NORA L. JAMIESON. The Rabbits, My Mother, My Dead. Posted by Nora Jamieson. On February 22, 2014. I was four when she rescued an infant bunny from the lush circular garden that lay at the center of our yard. Not as tiny in my hand as in the large and capable hands of my mother, the bunny was a silky slip of fur. I watched her hold the rabbit, gently coaxing it to feed from an eye dropper filled with cow’s milk before laying it in a box in the mudroom. And a wooden box holding a single orphaned bunny.

NORA L. JAMIESON. Posted by Nora Jamieson. On December 29, 2013. I dreamed of the Turquoise Sofa last night. Why now, after half a century, am I dreaming of the Turquoise Sofa. But no more so than the unspoken truth of death, of illicit pasts and banished grandmothers. The unutterable and unbearable knowing that, in the next room, my father lay dying. I dreamed of the Turquoise Sofa last night. Underworld relics of an unlived life. I dreamed of the Turquoise Sofa last night. Should I be alarmed? My lover...

NORA L. JAMIESON. Posted by Nora Jamieson. On December 8, 2013. And now, on a cool August morning, under a metal sky, my friend brings them here, to hold between she and I. I stand on the front porch to greet her, watching her walk up the path. A Dakini from the Charnel grounds, she carries a crystal vase spilling over with the beautiful bones. The thin and elegant hand bones of frogs. Who knew what mystery frog flesh held within? Yes it is like that. Bow Down →. 4 responses to “. So beautiful, Nora....

NORA L. JAMIESON. The Old Woman, A Samhain Blessing. Posted by Nora Jamieson. On October 25, 2014. What does it mean to have such a Grandmother? It is a hard lap. But what call, what need reached your ears, Old Woman, whose dream cracked open your ancient heart and called you forth from across the sea? Was it the lonely howl of wind over water that called you, or the unending dream of fog longing for the kiss of mountains that called you? Life now, again. You know her. . . The Old Woman always lives at t...
