NORCAL YAK: Slow, spectacular kayaking in Yosemite Valley
http://www.norcalyak.com/2015/06/slow-spectacular-kayaking-in-yosemite.html
Northern California kayaking adventures. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Slow, spectacular kayaking in Yosemite Valley. Passing under the Swinging Bridge with Yosemite Falls as a backdrop. Merced River now open to kayakers, so make plans for next spring. Not another soul in sight. Yet barely more than three miles away, Curry Village buzzed with activity. Only the sound of the river and birds twittering in the trees broke the silence here. Approaching the 3,000-foot-high El Capitan. Okay, maybe not the very.

http://www.norcalyak.com/2015/05/the-seasons-future-is-now-for.html
Northern California kayaking adventures. Thursday, May 21, 2015. The season's future is now for California kayakers. Blue heron watches kayakers Wednesday at the San Juan Rapids, American River. It sure didn't seem like a major drought on the lower American River this week. Flows that had been running around knee-level (500 cubic feet per second, or cfs) suddenly jumped to more than 1,500 cfs. That made for some fun kayaking at the San Juan Rapids. The California Data Exchange. Site and then focus on the.

Even if you’ve looked over a stretch of water a thousand times, you can never really appreciate the view until you’ve seen it from a kayak. Case in point – the Sacramento River as it rolls by the capital waterfront on a sunny autumn afternoon. Blue heron gets birds-eye view of downtown and riverfront.

Northern California kayaking adventures. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Downsized' Tahoe still an alpine gem for kayakers. A view of the dwindling Sierra snowpack on May 2, but a beautiful scene nonetheless. A bit less water, but it's clearer than ever. A fairly long walk to the water, compared to previous years. We kicked off our day trip near the South Sh...

http://www.norcalyak.com/2010/08/shark-attacks-on-2-california-kayakers.html
Northern California kayaking adventures. Thursday, August 19, 2010. Shark attacks, kayakers: Time to get out of the water? Earlier this month, I had some fun with the Discovery TV Channel’s “Shark Week,” while pointing out – quite seriously – that we're headed into “prime time” for shark attacks on the California coast. My post. Quoted shark authorities as saying that divers and surfers in wetsuits are the most likely accidental victims when sharks go cruising for a seal meal. With photos. He also fi...
