See the World with Traveling Hsu. Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Dear family and friends. Sorry, I know it's been a while. But I had to find a loop-hole to get on blocked websites in China! The adding-"s"-behind-"http"-trick didn't work. Then I was told of skydur.com. haha! Voila here I am. back with more postings! I know I've got quite a bit to catch up. But just a quick overview of what's happened in the past 4 weeks. Left NOLA on Oct 17, drove to ATL and spent 1.5 days there. Working 6 days a week.

See the World with Traveling Hsu. Friday, October 9, 2009. Doug is in Beijing and eating delicious real Chinese cooking. So all of a sudden, I'm craving dumplings. haha! Instead of buying the already-made frozen packages of dumplings,. I figured I'd made some myself :-). Haven't made them in a long time. I miss cooking Chinese food! I picked up some dumpling wrapper from a small Asian store in Kenner. Mixed the meat (pork flavor). And a bowl of water (used as an adhesive)! Voilà the finished product!

See the World with Traveling Hsu. Friday, September 11, 2009. Home Improvement - Project 2 - Guest Bath. This project was a biggie. Too bad I don't have a pic of the bathroom before it was demo'd! The old tile was pretty hideous! The color was just a shade darker than the wall blue! In addition to that. There were some pretty serious molding. And rotting going on behind the tile. The previous owner just had regular sheetrock around the shower! We ended up demo-ing everything. Then we found out that.

See the World with Traveling Hsu. Thursday, June 25, 2009. Wedding Hopping - First Stop - Louisville. Both Doug and I have friends' weddings to attend in June. And just so happened that they are back to back. We decided to take a road trip instead. And work remotely in between! First stop was Kentucky. We hung out in Grayson Co., E-town, Frankfort, Lexington and Louisville! The wedding rehearsal dinner was held at. The Kentucky Derby Museum on Friday night! That's also where we stayed.

See the World with Traveling Hsu. Friday, September 11, 2009. Home Improvement - Project 1 - Guest Bedroom. For the past few weeks and weekends,. We've been working HARD on home improvement projects! Trying to get as much done as we can before we leave for China. So much to do, so little time. But, we are making it work :-). Doug got this house about 6 months after Katrina. It wasn't in the bestest shape. But better than a FEMA trailer? He's done some improvements, still. Plenty more to do! So here we go.

See the World with Traveling Hsu. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Home Improvement - Project 3 - Downstairs Flooring. This was another big project. The dining room and living room had this ugly Pergo wood flooring. The foyer had an ugly black/white spotted tile. So they all had to go! Removing the old flooring took the longest time. The machine tool didn't work that well on the Pergo flooring,. So we had to manually hammered out every single piece from the slab. Anyway, we had helpers for this project!

I'd love to have another BMW. Cuz everybody knows that I'm a beemer girl :-). But I wanted something new. To go with my new job, new locale and new house. I don't like big cars, but I like fun cars. So a MINI Cooper S it is! And TODAY. I bought the MINI! Ta da my very own. Yes, I know I know. it's UGA red.

See the World with Traveling Hsu. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Ryan and Angela's Wedding. Out of our high school crew, he's the second one to get married! Lucky him though, he found a cutie :-). We are all very happy for them! The wedding was like a mini Fountain Valley High reunion for Lisa and I! Pretty much everybody stayed in Cali except for us.
