Temperatures barely climbing above 10°C and stores running low in one hive in particular. But today the temperature rose to almost 20°C and all of the hives were very busy. A humble approach to natural and sustainable beekeeping. Friday, 7 May 2010. D-Day (or Bee-Day) confirmed. This is it. After years of dreaming I got an offer I just couldn't resist or ignore. I have bought two colonies complete with bees, hives and all. I will be collecting them in a week, on Thursday May 13 (or possibly Friday May 14). The only minor drawback is that the bees are located some 250 km away; but looking at the bright side a road trip might be a splendid start to our relationship.

We had some luck with the weather: cold and rainy which allowed for closing up the hives at lunch instead of waiting for the evening.
