Wednesday, February 22, 2006. Only a week late. My great first day continued for my whole trip! Spent a day at the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. The whole place had a horrible feeling. Could'nt believe that people still live in the houses that the guards once lived in, while others live in houses built of the brick that the prisnors where forced to labour over. Saturday, April 29, 2006. More than anywhere, expectations of Venice were perhaps a little high. Was rather disappointing seeing the canals for the first time. Were no more impressive than Amsterdam canals! Lucked in with getting a cheap boat pass for the three days we spent here, and basically cruised around on ferries the whole time. Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Arrived into Prague on Sat 15/10. First impressions not great.spent three hours trying to find the hostel in floranc which was the Czech equivalent of Frankton, no map, no Czech.despite the 20mins of self taught lessons on the way in. Friday, November 11, 2005. A great night of Kiwi sounds. MC Tali opened, which was cool. Surprisingly, were quite a few English people who had heard of 'Shapeshifter'. Wednesday, January 11, 2006. Yet again we had the privilege of sharing a Slater Twin 5* hotel over New Years. The hotel was in a great location, giving us an easy walk to Porto de Soul, the main town square, for the New Years Eve celebrations. The tradition in Madrid (Spain? Is to eat 12 grapes in the first 12 seconds of the New Year (for good luck). The grapes come pre-packaged, just in case you cant count to 12 by the time midnight rolls round! If you are only reading this to see if we got mugged, missed flights / trains, dissed, and/or beating, then stop reading now because yet again we had a successful holiday with no horror stories! Friday, December 30, 2005. Never has a trip gone so smoothly for Steve and Roshanna! After leaving our house in Kings Cross, we arrived in Paris in about the time it would take to drive from Taupo to Auckland.
