Covered Porches and Wooden Screen Doors: December 2014
http://coveredporches.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. My Mom is 82. We're 1250 miles apart. We talk almost daily, but I've found we've begun playing the same game. That's the game of not discussing things that make the other person worry. Though I constantly talk about how it is important to talk to me about things, I don't practice what I preach. Neither does my Mom. But instead - my heart breaks and I tell her, 'I'm so sorry for your pain'. We talk the day after Christmas- her only brother has passed away at 87. Melanie, You ...

Covered Porches and Wooden Screen Doors: November 2014
http://coveredporches.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 29, 2014. Catching Up on Life. While the summer may not have had much quilting, it was filled with Wedding Showers, Rehearsal Suppers and a Wedding. Our family has a wonderful new member. Eric is just so happy! They make the cutest couple. The goal was made. A baby quilt for every new baby in my life. Church friends, work friends, family.I wanted them to each have one this year. The baby had to be rushed to Green Bay - with high fever. Honestly, if I had known about the baby's illness,...

Covered Porches and Wooden Screen Doors: Sunflower Gatherings - Two Blocks left.....
http://coveredporches.blogspot.com/2015/07/sunflower-gatherings-two-blocks-left.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Sunflower Gatherings - Two Blocks left. When I'm too tired for anything else, I reach for my sewing basket. There are more wool pieces to add. They overlap onto the setting squares on each side of the block. Right now they are neatly safety pinned to the back of the block so that I don't lose them. So long as you keep plugging away. 6:22 AM, July 22, 2015. 9:02 AM, July 22, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Upper Peninsula, Michigan, United States. Weather in My LIfe.

Covered Porches and Wooden Screen Doors: January 2015
http://coveredporches.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2015. Strawberries are on the edge of the counter, because Chelsey has a birthday and I want to make her a quilt. Affectionately known as the "Cat Lady" Chelsey has 3 cats that keep her company in her home town. Exercise - something that stays on the 'top burner' for me this year. I try to tell myself ,'one hour of exercise a day leaves me with 23 hours for other things. One Christmas gift that has been helping me this year is this:. Sunday, January 04, 2015. Covered Porches and Wooden Screen Doors: Summer Blocks
http://coveredporches.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-blocks.html
Thursday, July 02, 2015. It’s almost Friday - - well, it sort of is. I have the day off tomorrow for the Independence Day holiday falling on Saturday. It’s nice to have a three day weekend. And we’re going to have a few days of summer at the same time. With weather patterns in the U.P., you never know. Summer time rolls around and one thing I always look forward to is Primitive Gatherings Summer Block of the week. Keeping life in perspective made me realize I did not complete last year’s program. With so...

Covered Porches and Wooden Screen Doors: Summertime Crows
http://coveredporches.blogspot.com/2015/07/summertime-crows.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. The countertops in my 'new to me' kitchen are black. So I want to cozy them up. That means a new table topper for my farmhouse table. This is wool applique on cotton fabric. I decided not to center the wool block because so many times that vase of flowers or basket of bread cover it up. The star block is a block I found on Pinterest. There were many pieces to cut out, but it was the perfect size finishing at 14.5 inches. Quilting is the next step. 5:37 PM, July 21, 2015. Watermark...
