Charley Bettinger of Vernon, Connecticut, as been in model railroading for over 50 years and started in HO. In 1988 he changed to S scale. He enjoys operation and helping others to design and visualize a new layout. Charley served on the NER Board of Directors and for many years could be found at the registration table with his [now deceased] wife Patty and today is now active in the Pioneer Valley ‘S’-scale. TZU HANG, a remote controlled sailboat

Remote Controlled Model Sailboat. The lifeboat for the TZU HANG was built first as a test of the methods used to warp the planks. They were first soaked in an ammonia-water solution then ironed under heat to approximate shape. These planks have a more severe twist than that found on the mother ship. The keel was built flat against a template. Here, the bulkheads were fastened to the building board and planking is well under way. Notice the rabbiting along the keel. The TZU HANG is ready for decking.

This simple panel controls ALL functions of the turntable. While it is completely self contained it can also be easily interfaced with a DCC or computer control systems. The North River uses proprietary wireless throttles with (3) buttons on each unit to operate in parallel with these control buttons. This 1 line x 9 character LCD display is operated in 4-wire mode. Like most displays it contains it own controller so the PIC's controller for LCDs is not required. Model Railroading is fun in Connecticut.
