Lake Superior Region Blog: Frozen lakes and the Flame....
http://lakesuperiorregionblog.blogspot.com/2013/12/frozen-lakes-and-flame.html
Saturday, December 14, 2013. Frozen lakes and the Flame. Also the subject of the Duluth waterfront came to mind recently and the buildings that once were on the shore. I recalled the Flame Restaurant that was razed in the late 90's. I looked up the history. And found quite a interesting story. Even a bit entertaining with what a supper club was in the early days:. Lake Superior Region Blog: Waves kick up in November
http://lakesuperiorregionblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/waves-kick-up-in-november.html
Monday, November 18, 2013. Waves kick up in November. The leaves are gone but now the focus on the North Shore is wave watching. It's quite exciting and thriling to see a big roller pound into the rocks. Sometimes the spray shooting 20 feet plus into the air. The sounds that occur with the waves are also stimulating. November is wave watching month just ahead of the ski season which opens on Thanksgiving weekend. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Copper Harbor MI. Cam. Houghton Michigan Lift Bridge.

Saturday, March 29, 2014. The never ending winter of 2013-14. But there are positives such as spring skiing into April and a incredible waterfall season when it all melts sometime next June. And a new hobby of mine, finding snow on Memorial Day weekend. On hikes. I'm guessing we shall find snow again this coming Memorial Day holiday. Carla from The River. A fun new hobby. :-). Lake Superior Region Blog: Northshore fun in June
http://lakesuperiorregionblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/northshore-fun-in-june.html
Saturday, June 28, 2014. Northshore fun in June. The rivers are still flowing strong on the Northshore due all the rain lately. A bit of fog as well on these humid days. This shot taken at SugarLoaf Cove. Always amusing are the toilets on the Superior Hiking Trail. You can joke about them but when needed after miles of walking they look pretty good. The Fisherman's Daughter's Guide to the Northwoods. Monday, March 30, 2009. Late March, along the beach at Park Point, the first cairn I have ever seen made of ice. One week later, nature brought us some glass sculptures in the sand. And the St. Louis River gushing through Jay Cooke State Park, the surest sign that spring is coming.right after the foot of snow expected tomorrow. Posted by Felicia Schneiderhan.
