Not-So-Speedy On The Uptake: Faster Than The Speed Of Change!
http://not-so-speedy.blogspot.com/2008/05/faster-than-speed-of-change.html
Not-So-Speedy On The Uptake. Celebrating the art of learning slowly! Sunday, 4 May 2008. Faster Than The Speed Of Change! What a difference a month makes. My last post (my first post! Written on 15 th. March '08 set the scene but I genuinely had no idea of what was to come next. Boy, if I had known! So there I was feeling challenged about the life I live, thinking of ways that I could become more Christ-like and truly serve God in the world, then on the 10 th. And yet, it felt. right! And asked them to a...

Not-So-Speedy On The Uptake. Celebrating the art of learning slowly! Monday, 26 May 2008. In praise of. Slow! I can be quite the pessimist at times! I'm good at spotting what's wrong, what's going to go wrong or identifying failure or inadequacy! It was because of that that i chose the name i did for this blog. However, it seems strange that I chose the name "not-so-speedy" and the picture of the Tortoise for this blog! Given that context the learning process I am now going through is. SLOW! This journey...

Not-So-Speedy On The Uptake. Celebrating the art of learning slowly! Thursday, 19 June 2008. Half The Man I'm Meant To Be? I never take baths! Always a shower. But a number of times recently I've elected to take the "slower route" to my ablutions - having a bath! I've been caught up reading books recently - Again something I don't usually have much time to do. Business man, father, husband, leader in the church. you know how it goes! The books I've been reading are. Good Morning Holy Spirit" by Benny Hinn.

Not-So-Speedy On The Uptake. Celebrating the art of learning slowly! Saturday, 15 March 2008. I was going to begin by saying that it all started when I changed church. but the reality is the story started long before I was even born! 80 % of the work being done by 20% of the congregation - and burning out! We were actually actively being drawn into talking and building relationships with other people! The Point ( http:/ www.thepointchurch.co.uk/. Saved my spiritual life, saved my marriage, saved my famil...

A Christian's Tale: A leap of faith
http://achristianstale.blogspot.com/2008/05/leap-of-faith.html
Monday, 19 May 2008. A leap of faith. A couple of weeks ago I went away on a "Mens' Weekend" with my church. It wasn't just for men within the church, but more of a get away for men from The Point and their male freinds. It was a truly great time. An opportunity to build new relationships and create stronger bonds in current ones. I had gone with an open mind, knowing what the structure of the weekend was going to be, but I didn't really have any idea what might happen or how it might affect me. At lunch...
A Christian's Tale: February 2008
http://achristianstale.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, 21 February 2008. God, I love singing! This is just a thank you note really. To God, for giving me a gift in singing, to my parents in supporting and nurturing it and to The Welcome and the point (churches) for allowing me to sing with others. I joined with some very talented musicians this evening and sang, worshipping and praising our Lord. It was fun, joyful and sounded truly great. It was a privilege and an honour to be a part of it. I loved it. Thank you! Sunday, 10 February 2008. Website&...
A Christian's Tale: "Holy sequels Batman!" - The dark hero - a story re-told
http://achristianstale.blogspot.com/2008/08/holy-sequels-batman-dark-hero-story-re.html
Monday, 4 August 2008. The dark hero - a story re-told. Last Saturday I went to watch the latest Batman movie - "The Dark Knight". Since Tim Burton properly launched the caped crusader onto the silver screen in 1989, he has had a total of six Hollywood outings (Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin , Batman Begins and Batman the Dark Knight). Purely his own torturous enjoyment. Heath surely deserves a posthumous Oscar, may he rest in peace. Its not an arthouse production! In our church...
A Christian's Tale: July 2008
http://achristianstale.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 16 July 2008. Sometimes there just aren't the words. As I've been keeping this blog for the last 9 months, I've found it to be many things; a creative expression, a soapbox, a journal, a story, a commentary on my life's journey. I've not written anything for a little while. That's because sometimes it needs to be an empty space. A book is only as good as the author. Sometimes there are periods in your life when you just don't have the words. I have to make space for Him. Answers, paths, destin...

Monday, 10 March 2008. Next week marks the end of another term. For the first time since leaving university I've been measuring my life in terms. From September til December last year it was an Alpha Course for Rach and a Lifeshapes Course for me, since Jan its been Lifeshapes for Rach and The Marriage Course for both of us. I'll miss the courses - I've enjoyed being a student and doing homework again, but everything has been about application and so any benefit I'm going to gain will come from making th...
A Christian's Tale: June 2008
http://achristianstale.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 3 June 2008. Sad things happen in threes. Tomorrow I'm returning to Norfolk again. For another funeral. I'm going to pay my respects to a wonderful man and support my family. Suddenly and tragically, John Andrews died 10 days ago. He was a lovely man - a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, friend. My sister-in-law's dad, a gentle, kind and caring man who made me feel so welcome whenever I saw him that I hope I can be like that with others. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
A Christian's Tale: The sanctity of marriage
http://achristianstale.blogspot.com/2008/05/sanctity-of-marriage.html
Tuesday, 20 May 2008. The sanctity of marriage. A couple of weeks ago I had the great privilege of being a Best Man. My best mate Sam at long last married his fiancee Katie and they had a fantastic wedding at the magnificent Horsted Place in East Sussex. Into going into a particular bar or restaurant. Two weeks later, we'd grouped again for the wedding and were joined by those who were unable to make the Stag Do. Family and friends of Sam and Katie, congregating to watch them get married and celebrat...

Not-So-Speedy On The Uptake. Celebrating the art of learning slowly! Friday, 18 July 2008. Searching For The Still Quiet Voice. Have you ever tried to sit in complete silence, no sound at all, no music, just silence? But more than that, by silence I mean not doing anything. just being - submitting yourself to God with a prayer "Heavenly father, speak to me guide me! And then just closing your eyes (to cut out the 'noise' of distraction around you) and waiting in silence. It's hard! Hmmm, the Word of God!

Saturday, August 29, 2009. What to avoid in Broadway Dance Center. So after a summer of taking dance classes at Broadway Dance Center, I have composed a personal list of things to avoid. 1) Jumps and Turns Class! The level may be listed as advanced but dancers beware! The real teacher was 40 minutes late, her assistant led a "follow-along" stretch that was way to fast and pointless. The teacher talked down to us when we didn't do the exercise full-out behind her while she was introducing it. Wrist band c...
