The horses mouths: October 2005
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 30, 2005. I thought this would be great opener for a per -but then I was telling anna about it and she reminded me that the song was "Addicted to Love". If I used Addicted to love" - then I'd end up with a psychoanlaytic link - modeeling - desire and THe LACK. So I'm sticking wiht the other song - coz its cuter. There’s no telling where the money went. She’s all mine,. There’s no other way to go. At the time of Benjamin’s research Fashion mannequins had already moved past the lifelike rep...

The horses mouths: May 2006
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 17, 2006. 18 months down the track and I'm still humming and hawing about what the hell this is meant to be about. I was/am/will be (until quite late tonight) writing up a paper I gave last year. It's kind of based roughly on the intro to the tome that will be. It starts with a nice affective story about modelling and then goes one to describe my big fat lacuna of a topic. I then want to compare the various accounts; the ones form established official art authorities, the ones from the pre...

The horses mouths: September 2005
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 06, 2005. I had an ineresting experience today. I rocked up to a sketch club to find that the model I exected to draw hadn't turned up. for some stupid reason - I decided to fill in. What was the stupid reason? Wanted to feel my body. I haven't modelled since may 2004. Apart from little sessions with my partner. My first 20 minute pose - I adopted an easy old standard - one buttock perched n a milk crate, with one leg kneeling and back twisted. Afterwards I felt great (endorphin rush).

The horses mouths: July 2005
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 20, 2005. This is partly a response to some posting son the US based chasite that I'm a part of. From what I can tell - the US seems to be a LOT more. Hung up than australia. Someone posted a notice about a teacher who inisited that male models wear short sor underpants whitle modelling. Generally I think sketch clubs are a pretty soft. Target for the sleaze factor - In the era of string. Bikinis and mass porn it is such a coy setting anyway! And then - there is a really erotically charged.

The horses mouths: March 2005
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2005. A certain type of tension in the room? The audible silence (forgive the oxymoron) from one part of the room? Fair enough, I surrepticiously strained my eyeballs around to where my tightening guts told me and fair enough, there was one of those freaks wearing short navy stubbies, in July, with his hands in is pockets, his jaw agape and nary a mark on the page in front of him. Gross! It was the same guy who used to corner me in the breaks and talk about his mother (I kid you not!

The horses mouths: June 2005
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 03, 2005. After 3 years - I've just found out from the powers that be - that we won't be able to run the subsidised life drawing sketch club at the housing coop where I live anymore. Not unless we suddenly get a lot more drawers and start making a profit - or even making less of a loss. But it was such a nice sketch club - and a ovely way to meet people I didn't know already - and the people who came were mostly really nice - plus it forced me to practice life drawing EVERY week. The "quick ...

The horses mouths: April 2005
http://lifemodels.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 21, 2005. Hard Times in the Raw. Tonight it is getting chilly and it's bringing back memories of dim dank days in July (I'm writing from the Southern Hemisphere Remember! Sydney is the kind of place where it doesn't get cold enough to wear wool - and it is so humid that wool just gets heavy and damp anyway. In winter most people make do with a good parka and a couple of portable plug in 2-bar radiators, or maybe a fan heater if it gets really dismal (like 10 degrees celsius). Oh and tacks...
