notbirding

A blog dedicated to birding around Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Friday, 7 August 2015. Finishing work a bit early today, I went to see the juvenile Dipper. On the River Leen at Bulwell - a nice confiding bird. I then headed to the patch, were it was mainly very quite (a single Green Sand. Was the only wader that wasn't a Lapwing), until I heard what sounded remarkably like a Willow Tit. And is only the second I've ever had at Collingham, after a bird in 2009. Wednesday, 5 August 2015. Was a bit odd,...

notbirding: Besthorpe NR

http://www.notbirding.blogspot.com/p/besthorpe-nature-reserve.html

A blog dedicated to birding around Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Is divided into two distinct parts; Mons Pool (including Besthorpe Meadow), and Meering Marsh (previously known, by me at least, as Besthorpe North). Both are managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, and were been subject to habitat creation works during 2011. An area of secondary woodland (now named Meering Wood), accessed via the footpath which runs along the southern boundary of the site, provides additional habitat diversity, and ...

notbirding: May 2015

A blog dedicated to birding around Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Wednesday, 27 May 2015. I spent an enjoyable couple of hours on the patch tonight with Craig Brookes, Rob Werran and Nick Shimwell. Our main quarry was Turtle Dove - a British tick for one of the three! After an uneventful look at Mons Pool (where the water levels are low, and there is plenty of exposed mud, but no passage waders again.), we headed round to Meering Marsh where we had a (silent) Cuckoo. Off the wires) and Turtle Dove.

notbirding: February 2015

http://www.notbirding.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

A blog dedicated to birding around Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Friday, 20 February 2015. What a treat; Thursday and Friday off from work, if only I could do that every week. So yesterday we went for a nice walk around Abney in the Peak District, via a pub for lunch. It was a bit wet but the scenery was lovely, even in mid February. Avian highlights were 2 Dippers. In Abney Clough and a Raven. Coming to feeders and in adjacent scrub - I've never seen that many in one place before! And a Barn Owl.

notbirding: Cotham Flash

http://www.notbirding.blogspot.com/p/cotham-flash_13.html

A blog dedicated to birding around Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Area consists of a number of sites, which have been lumped together on this page for convenience - they are Cotham Flash, Hawton Works Grassland, Cotham Landfill, and Pykett's Pond. Is a small wetland area, which can be 'unofficially' accessed through a gap in the hedge off the Hawton to Cotham road (with parking available opposite in the carpark at the northern end of Pykett's Pond). The site is about a decade or so old,. Field immedia...

notbirding: July done and dusted

http://www.notbirding.blogspot.com/2015/08/july-done-and-dusted.html

A blog dedicated to birding around Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Wednesday, 5 August 2015. July done and dusted. July proved to be a relatively productive month on the patch; after Siskin. I rounded things off with a Sanderling. On the 30th; all were still present the following day, along with the Garganey. Which circled the Silt Lagoon before heading north) and 7 Green Sands. Not a bad little haul. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And the Cotham Flash. A soggy bank holiday. July done and dusted.

Not Biologically Related

Welcome to our journey as a family, who have no biological relation to each other, but who seek to follow God's will together. Monday, July 13, 2015. Well the sharks were a biting this year, so we stuck to tubing and swimming in the intercostal waterway! So much fun, thanks Aunt Sitter and Unkie, we had a great time as always! Fireworks on the beach, nothing better! Bazinga catching lighting on the beach! Not sure how it happened but now I have an 11 year old! I think some boys grew! Thank goodness we ca...

notbitching | it's not as easy as it seems

It's not as easy as it seems. Must give that more thought tomorrow…. Comments : Leave a Comment. Where do broken hearts go? This post best read accompanied by this soundtrack: Where Do Broken Hearts Go. I’ve been struggling with the theme of “broken people” and I hate using that term because who am I to make that call so maybe if I hate the term you will too so what should I call them… folks who don’t operate the way me, my family and my close friends do? I’m walking on eggshells around these people.
