Notes from Flanders: Pondering the Porter

http://notesfromflanders.blogspot.com/2014/01/pondering-porter.html

A sometimes journal about all things beautiful, objects of desire, interiors and things I love. Friday, January 31, 2014. When the wintry wind is whipping around outside, wouldn't you wish for a chair to keep you warm and protected? Ah, the romance of a piece of furniture! The chair was believed to have originated in England, where it then jumped the Channel to great estates and palaces in France. These chairs look fit for a king, but for Louis XV, I doubt he didn't so much want to make his servants m...

A sometimes journal about all things beautiful, objects of desire, interiors and things I love. Friday, May 31, 2013. Rocks in My Head. The word 'right' connotes all sorts of things.do you lean right or left politically? Are you right-brained or left-brained? Do you have strong opinions? How do you feel about rocks? Do you love 'em or leave 'em? The skies were threatening and monster storms and tornadoes were imminent. Adrenalin kicks in! The things I do for my clients! Fruits of my labor. Sorry to discri...

Notes from Flanders: June 2013

http://notesfromflanders.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

A sometimes journal about all things beautiful, objects of desire, interiors and things I love. Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Sweet and Simple Sample of Summer. Nothing puts you in the here and now as a dog walk. Whether with a young dog pulling you in front, or an old dog lagging behind, the human at the end of the leash is gifted with the canine experience of life. It is called living in the present for all that it is worth. The grass and ground are cool, and you are one with the earth. It is a simple flavor,...

Notes from Flanders: Spring Cleaning

http://notesfromflanders.blogspot.com/2015/03/spring-cleaning.html

A sometimes journal about all things beautiful, objects of desire, interiors and things I love. Monday, March 23, 2015. Today was a fulfilling day of filling bookshelves starved for attention. Here were built-in bookcases put in by the client, but sorely underutilized for their purpose in life! My homework for the clients was to corral all things of interest. There was no dearth of great hardbound books, what with both clients being teachers. There were also some fabulous ashtrays from the 50's. Hi Renee&...

Notes from Ethel

Sunday, February 5, 2012. Well, we are still here, and we haven't made any plans to move yet. However, things are definitely happening. I wish I could tell you in detail all that has been going on, but I can't. Just know that God is at work in powerful ways. :). I am becoming more and more excited about college. I accepted at CSU, and they actually gave me a nice scholarship! I should be starting college at the end of August, if all goes as planned. Monday, January 2, 2012. A New Year, with new adventures.

Notes from Evelina | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. March 8, 2011. When we choose our spouses need before our own, when we realize it’s not 50-50 mentality but 100%, our focus is not who’s right or wrong but that God has made us different! My spouse has gaps, I have gaps, together – no gaps! Oneness grows as we receive our spouse as a gift from God! He or she is not our enemy! It has been said that” couples that pray together, stay together! Remember that you and your spouse are a “TEAM OF TWO”. January 7, 2011. Blog at Wo...

Notes From Exile | An original Jewish viewpoint; opinions expressed here are mine alone.

An original Jewish viewpoint; opinions expressed here are mine alone. After the Women’s March, Build a Progressive World. January 24, 2017. January 24, 2017. Like many others, I’m inspired but skeptical of the extraordinary, million-person turn out for the Women’s March on Washington and sister marches throughout the world. As we approached the massive Washington, DC demonstration, a friend asked me, ‘what does marching like this really do? Isn’t it just letting off steam? How much meat you eat? Engage L...

A Note from Francie

Tuesday, February 16, 2010. I have a wonderful brother in Johnny. I want to wish him a very happy birthday. The picture below reminds me of just one of the special times we have spent together. We always wish there could be more. This picture is John and Cheryl with me in Norway. What a wonderful memory it has become. It was a great day in 1967 when Johnny married Janis and she became a member of our family! Dad always said, "Janis, you are my favorite daughter-in-law! And he meant it. Mom with her girls...
