Notes From McTeach: Mapping Our Chapter

http://www.notesfrommcteach.com/2008/11/mapping-our-chapter.html

Sunday, December 7, 2008. It has been far too long since I've posted to my blog. For the most part, I've just been extremely busy with school. But I also haven't really had a topic that I felt I absolutely had. To blog about. Until now. Know how to do that! But, by far, our favorite note-taking activity has been chapter maps. And then came chapter maps. When I first told the class that we would be doing something other than two-column notes, I actually heard him let out a groan. Change? Some of my favori...

Monday, August 19, 2013. Welcome to Seventh Grade! Now that you’re finally in seventh grade I have to tell you something:. I’m so excited to get to know each and every one of you! Not a day passed this summer when I wasn’t thinking about you and our seventh grade classroom (I hope you noticed I said “our” classroom because this space belongs to all of us! I know I haven’t gotten to know all of you yet, but I do know at least two things about each and every one of you:. You Are a Genius! You Are a Genius!

Notes From McTeach: Photo Caption Contest

http://www.notesfrommcteach.com/2014/11/photo-caption-contest.html

Tuesday, November 18, 2014. One of my favorite writing activities to do with students is to provide them with a photo and ask them to write a caption for it. Yesterday, I shared a photo of a squirrel that I found on Pinterest. And asked them to write away. Not only did they love the activity, we all loved the captions they came up with. If there is no clear winner, then I'll create a second form with fewer choices. Thanks so much for your help! I like it.even though it should be Stop Hammer Time!

Notes From McTeach: Release Their Creativity

http://www.notesfrommcteach.com/2012/09/release-their-creativity.html

Sunday, September 9, 2012. In preparing to celebrate International Dot Day. So I interrupted them and explained what I was seeing and hearing. I said, "Let's try something different." I put ten minutes on the timer and told my students they would have ten minutes to come up with fifty (yes.50) ideas. There were a number of gasps as well as comments like, "no way! And "wait, is she serious? Of course I was serious! Am I ever not. Never mind. Don't answer that. What does this prove? Let's start with the gr...

A blog designed to provide students in Mrs. Holder's Physical Science Classes the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics. Sunday, June 21, 2009. I have played with Wordle. Some, though I haven't figured out how to use it with my science students. I did find it an interesting tool to analyze presidential candidate Barak Obama's acceptance speech and later compare his inaugural address to it. Finally, I have gotten around to working on Library2Play2. Anyway, here is my glog. And here is the animoto.
