Notes in the Sand. Friday, June 15, 2007. And Thus it Concludes - June 3rd. Well, here it is. The end of our glorious trip. We all knew the inevitable would happen but who allowed it to sneak up on us so soon. A few of us (ok, maybe only you, Jeff) were looking forward to going home. The rest of us dreaded leaving this magnificent place and returning back to life and reality. Alas, our own beds and clean clothes were calling…. 8230;Pause for an essential Magnum break…. http://www.notesinsand.blogspot.com/2007/05/mamas-dont-let-your-babies-grow-up-to.html

Notes in the Sand. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Phosphate Miners - May 28th. Some time later he motioned to the distant horizon to some small piles of dirt. These, he informed us, were phosphate waste piles. Other than these Jordanian tourist attractions The SC offered very little in the way of sites. We made a short detour in order to visit Mt. Nebo. A tour full of poets and comedians! Sleep deprivation has never sounded so fun. Keep the posts coming!

Notes in the Sand: Shabbat in Jerusalem - June 2nd

http://www.notesinsand.blogspot.com/2007/06/shabbat-in-jerusalem-june-2nd.html

Notes in the Sand. Friday, June 8, 2007. Shabbat in Jerusalem - June 2nd. We began the day with a visit to the peaceful and serene Orson Hyde Memorial Garden on the Mount of Olives. After a short meeting, we moved over to Mount Scopus for a tour of the spectacular BYU Jerusalem Center facility and stayed for Sacrament meeting with the Jerusalem branch. It was an unforgettable experience to view the Temple mount and Old Jerusalem through the floor to ceiling windows that backed the speakers.

http://www.notesinsand.blogspot.com/2007/05/on-to-holy-land-may-29th.html

Notes in the Sand. Thursday, May 31, 2007. On To The Holy Land - May 29th. At last, after several hours of waiting, truckloads of ice cream bars, and searching through luggage (no body cavity searches this time—thank goodness) we made it through the border crossing from Jordan into the Holy Land. It’s the second week now, and those who have burned the midnight oil can often be seen tipping over into the isles of the bus or face down in their falafel. We had a cultural smorgasbord in the ancient Roman the...

Notes in the Sand: Olive Wood Overtakes Papyrus - June 1st

http://www.notesinsand.blogspot.com/2007/06/olive-wood-overtakes-papyrus-june-1st.html

Notes in the Sand. Friday, June 1, 2007. Olive Wood Overtakes Papyrus - June 1st. Drawing strength from unknown resources, our intrepid bunch got off to a good start with a group picture on the Mount of Olives. No dawdling, as usual! After vast amounts of money exchanged hands at the shop, we headed toward what is commonly referred to as the Mormon Shepherd’s Hill. After we got past the new housing developments, a scenic hill opened up complete with gentle terracing and olive trees. Next we were off to t...

Brightly Blossom: More Beach Time

http://brightlyblossom.blogspot.com/2010/07/more-beach-time.html

Thursday, July 22, 2010. One of my favorite things about not working is being able to go to the beach during the week when it's not so crowded. I also need to take advantage of living near the ocean before I'm back in Utah. I'm so glad Mollie is a fan of the beach too. :). Brightly Blossom: July 2010

http://brightlyblossom.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 26, 2010. Back in the Motherland. I arrived safe and sound in Moscow yesterday. I was able to see my Russian companion from my mission, Sister Gorbunova. She conveniently moved to Moscow two months ago. Miracle, right? After a quick stop at home, we went to Red Square and some of the sites around there. I will post more later, but just wanted you all to know I was safe. :). Thursday, July 22, 2010. Sunday, July 18, 2010. Next, we decided to go to the Sacred Grove. We ended up staying for a l...

Monday, June 28, 2010. Tuesday, June 22, 2010. This month's movie night revolved around the color yellow. We had pineapple, lemonade. Grilled ham and yellow cheese. Corn on the cob. And a yummy yellow soup. We then enjoyed the old Jimmy Stewart movie 'You Can't Take It With You.' As usual, delicious food, wonderful company, and good times all around. :). Brightly Blossom: January 2012

http://brightlyblossom.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 22, 2012. Last Sunday at our family dinner, I realized how loud kids are when they get together. There was a little wrestling/brawling going on when I went to investigate the yelling. After volleyball on Monday, I went to my brother's place. We heard some shrieking from Lincoln and when we found him, he'd fallen over the tub and was holding himself up, completely stuck. I had to laugh that he could get himself into this situation. Perfect for a little karaoke the next day. One thing that ...

Thursday, May 27, 2010. The rain gathered the pollen into pools. Can you believe how much of it there is? It's a good thing I don't seem to be allergic to it, otherwise I'd be constantly sneezing. Monday, May 24, 2010. Saturday morning I took the train back to San Diego so that I could go to Kim's graduation as a Nurse Practitioner. I sat with Karen, her friend Catherine, and Dan and his parents. Cheryl was home with Karen's baby as she'd seen the commencement the night before. Congrats Kim! Highlights f...

Brightly Blossom: Palmyra Port

http://brightlyblossom.blogspot.com/2010/07/palmyra-port.html

Sunday, July 18, 2010. We camped overnight in the fairgrouds and this was the sunrise we awoke to. We tried to go to a diner for breakfast, but apparently we are early risers and they weren't open yet. It did help us stumble onto this pond and dock on the Erie Canal. Next, we decided to go to the Sacred Grove. While it was early and there wouldn't be many people. We ended up staying for a long time, walking all around, reading the Joseph Smith story and singing. I loved the peaceful feeling there.
