MetEveryday: Stephen Hannock
http://themeteveryday.blogspot.com/2008/12/day-twenty-two-coming-soon.html
Sunday, March 22, 2009. The first is Kaaterskill Falls for Frank Moore and Dan Hodermarsky. A realistic depiction of a beautiful waterfall but with a twist: the rock in the background is covered with writing and collage. In "Kaaterskill Falls," Hannock pays tribute to his old prep-school teacher, Dan Hodermarsky; to the late Frank Moore, an artist who died of AIDS; and to a cycling friend (hence Lance Armstrong). (Fortune Magazine). The Oxbow: After Church, after Cole, Flooded, Green Light. Many thanks f...

MetEveryday: A lovely visit with my friend, Megan, and a Focus on the Futurists
http://themeteveryday.blogspot.com/2008/11/day-one-lovely-visit-with-my-friend.html
Wednesday, November 12, 2008. A lovely visit with my friend, Megan, and a Focus on the Futurists. This first entry marks the beginning of my daily pilgrimage to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Today's visit to the Met was a comprehensive one - as is always the case when in the company of another person. My fellow Met member, Megan, and I started in the Egyptian wing, then ascended the main staircase in the center of the museum and paused at the "Rhythms of Modern Life: British Prints 1914-1939". We conti...

http://themeteveryday.blogspot.com/2009/11/norton-simon-slideshow.html
Friday, November 27, 2009. Because I have been on vacation, I haven't had time to write content/captions for this post (and a couple more upcoming ones) — so I came up with a solution: Can you name the artists shown in the slideshow below? Leave a comment listing the artists in order (obviously, photos of scenery and my grandma don't count), and you will have the satisfaction of being right. Go! November 30, 2009 at 7:26 AM. MetEveryday: Magnificent Mandalas
http://themeteveryday.blogspot.com/2009/11/magnificent-mandalas.html
Saturday, November 14, 2009. Image from nytimes.com. Tucked away in the northwest galleries on the second floor, Japanese Mandalas: Emanations and Avatars. Seems simultaneously underemphasized yet perfectly constructed for its subject matter. Mandalas are not only beautiful, meticulously painted works of art, but also meditative tools. Looking at the incredible detail of each mandala, it was easy even for me to relax and begin to consider every little shape and line. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Saturday, September 19, 2009. More Old Friends: Ugolino and His Sons. Nothing Thing
Making nonsense of artistic sense. This artwork doesn’t accept opinions but money. In god we trust for art we lust. This artwork might remind you of an old painting but behind it there is a new idea. This artwork is a meaningful whore. If you want to be an artist just buy this artwork and make it your own. If you plan to buy this artwork then keep in mind that artistic satisfaction is not included in the price. If you haven’t bought a meaningless artwork before then this is your chance.
