Gardening with a Not-So-Angry Redhead

June 14, 2013. June 13, 2013. Recently I made the bold move to paint the front door of our new house pink. Or to be more specific "Cactus Flower" by Benjamin Moore. I'm still not too sure of it, so I've been looking to place more pink in the landscape with the goal of color replication and logical repetition. The plumerias have been helping out as much as they can. Bless their little hearts. While this one is not as floriferous as the last one, it is definitely the most pink. June 12, 2013. May 16, 2012.

Gardening with a Not-So-Angry Redhead: DIY: Make Pot Feet from Inner Tubes

http://notsoangryredhead.blogspot.com/2011/07/howtomakepotfeet.html

July 6, 2011. DIY: Make Pot Feet from Inner Tubes. When I demonstrated my DIY pot lifter/hauler. At a Garden Club of Austin meeting, I also showed how to make pot feet out of bicycle inner tubes, and they were a bigger hit than the pot lifter! For this project, you will need bicycle inner tubes (free at bicycle repair shops) and a pair of scissors. Remove valve section and wash inner tube(s). Cut a short section of tube. Cut the remaining tube in long strips following the seam lines. What a neat idea!

Gardening with a Not-So-Angry Redhead: In Full Bloom

http://notsoangryredhead.blogspot.com/2012/05/in-full-bloom.html

May 4, 2012. Recently, I posted about my Rebutia fulviseta. Beginning to bloom, and now nearly all the blooms are open for a wild and crazy burst of gorgeous red petals with creamy yellow centers. It's happened ridiculously quickly, and I've set it out in the sun to hopefully attract some pollinators. Looking at the cactus, it's hard to imagine it was capable of producing such bright and comparatively large flowers. Watching this cactus bloom, I can see why people would collect Rebutia. Looks great. ...

Gardening with a Not-So-Angry Redhead: DIY Staghorn Fern Mount

http://notsoangryredhead.blogspot.com/2011/05/diy-staghorn-fern-mount.html

May 8, 2011. DIY Staghorn Fern Mount. At a Garden Club of Austin raffle, I won a staghorn fern that had lost its mounting board. Really nice specimen but lacking a board or a pot. I put it in a pot, but it looked ridiculous. Plus I already had a staghorn fern in a hanging pot. It overwintered in the garage bare, and it was one of the last plants to go outside. It's amazing how dramatic mounted staghorn ferns look, and. I was kinda impressed at how quick it was to create the board and mount the fern.
