Coming home from shopping yesterday, I sat on the bus behind a grandmother with a small child. The child had been bought a toy dinosaur, which was the subject of conversation. Child: The dinosaurs all died. Child: They all died and went (gesturing to the ceiling of the bus - which was a single-decker, by the way) up there.

Having ploughed through a couple of books that fell short of expectations, I picked on this as being a quick read and pretty much a banker in terms of satisfaction (and also because it had twice come up, once as the answer to a crossword clue and once as a question on Mastermind. So there we were, my group of sandwich-eating ornithopods, at half ten in the morning some time last week. Probably Thursday. We were in the Stannary (student chill-out area/canteen) when a load of guys rolled in and ordered a round of beer at the bar. At half ten in the morning. Thursday, September 29, 2011. Things I have learnt in the past week:. Seagulls are enormous. One came pelting straight at me earlier and I thought 'this is how I'll die'. A sea bird through the face and a bottle of Ribena in one hand. Microwaves are a Godsend. I honestly don't know how I've gone for this long without one. It takes me two minutes to make dinner. Dinner! I'm used to waiting twenty minutes and that's the quickest I can make anything! Falmouth is extraordinarily pretty. There is bunting!
