Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Just so I don't forget. Crown said it is best not to kick when the opponent has both hands up? Because it is easier for them then to grab your leg. Kick when they only have one hand forward/up? We kinda worked on Tekki Shodan and Nidan and Suishu. They screw around so much that we have hardly enough time to do anything. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Here are the results from my last belt test. They call it shokyu shinsa, which I guess translates as "advancement examination". Shokyu 昇級 Shinsa 審査, together as 昇級審査. The test and the event are the same. I was promoted to 3-kyu, that's a brown belt in our club, and A was promoted to kari 8-kyu. I need to work on. Sunday, May 25, 2014. Just A and Flower practiced while Nico and I "watched". Both A and Flower did really well this practice. Flower did ALL of the sparring practice except for the final "free sparring" where they actually try and hit each other. Aspen is doing very well with the free sparring. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Kihon - basic form drills. Kumite - sparring practice. Kata - Kata practice. We did the downward block (gedan barai) during Kihon today, for the first time I might add. I once again felt foolish as I tried to do the combinations while moving backwards. Monday, June 30, 2014. Different paces bring happy faces. Muto-sensei, Kon-sensei,. We got there a little late and missed the basic drills. Everyone was working on sparring drills when we got there. I was going to sit back and watch to encourage my two young kids to work without me but Muto-sensei asked me to jump in to give some of the newer members extra practice with sparring as they were going to join in a tournament soon. Jab, lunge punch. We took turns doing 10 combination jab to lunge punches.

Thursday, October 23, 2014. Nothing new with Kihon. This time, Muto-sensei told Kon-sensei to take me with him so I could work with the brown and black belts. We worked on Kanku Dai, only. We only worked on Kanku Dai. Which was great, because we usually don't spend a lot of time on one thing so it is hard to learn the details. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Had a short karate practice on Saturday as my wife had found some event she wanted us to go to. A was happy to have a short practice. :-( We did kihon and kumite and then left before Kata. H didn't do anything at all and was being stubborn. My eating is out of control.
