Gangewifre Weaving: End Feed Shuttles
http://gangewifre.blogspot.com/2015/03/end-feed-shuttles.html
A weaving blog of the what, why and how of the work I have been doing. Sunday, March 1, 2015. Weaving the Waffle Weave Shawl (it is off the loom and resting in preparation for being fringed and washed) necessitated fairly frequent colour changes so I took the opportunity to try some different shuttles. The second metal tipped shuttle that I tried was a bit of a beast but it was surprisingly easy to use. It has an adjustable Honex type tension adjuster. I thought that it might be a bit hard on the...Chanc...

Gangewifre Weaving: Tarp Clamp Temple
http://gangewifre.blogspot.com/2015/05/tarp-clamp-temple.html
A weaving blog of the what, why and how of the work I have been doing. Tuesday, May 26, 2015. A couple of posts. Ago I mentioned that I was using "crocodile clips" and weights to serve as a temple. I think that strictly speaking the device that I am using is a "tarp clamp". And the picture below shows angle of the cord and the cloth distortion. The blocks sit on the side rails and are held in position by their legs. The cord from the clamp goes through the screw eye and the down to the weight. I have jus...

Gangewifre Weaving: Weavers Elbow
http://gangewifre.blogspot.com/2015/04/weavers-elbow.html
A weaving blog of the what, why and how of the work I have been doing. Monday, April 13, 2015. I think that I may have been a little too gung-ho in my experiments with end feed shuttles (see last post). For the past month I have been afflicted with very painful tennis elbow (or maybe golfers elbow) which has not been caused by tennis (wrong arm) and which has been quite incapacitating. The only thing that I can think of that could have caused it is weaving with a half kilo shuttle! What are the chances?

Gangewifre Weaving: Differential Shrinkage Scarf
http://gangewifre.blogspot.com/2015/07/differential-shrinkage-scarf.html
A weaving blog of the what, why and how of the work I have been doing. Friday, July 31, 2015. The scarf that I started back in May has been off the loom for some time and has been sitting on the spare room bed "relaxing". I got round to twizzling and washing one of them ( I wove two) last week and all went well. Quite a lot of shrinkage- it went down from 96" off the loom to 60" after the treatment. Very exciting! August 1, 2015 at 4:22 AM. August 1, 2015 at 7:59 AM. Comments are most welcome. Weaving is...

Gangewifre Weaving: Scarf Colours
http://gangewifre.blogspot.com/2015/05/scarf-colours.html
A weaving blog of the what, why and how of the work I have been doing. Wednesday, May 13, 2015. This picture of the yarns that I am using for the scarf. Gives a better idea of the colours - something along the lines of a old copper pot encrusted with verdigris! Comments are most welcome. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What are the chances? Weaving A Gem Of A Life. Now THAT’S progress. An Inkle of Bateman. Cally Booker's Bonny Claith. I am unreasonably delighted with simple shapes. Busy, but (still) ...
