Sydney nurse mystery: case sent to DPP. A 27-year-old mystery appeared closer to resolution this morning when the Deputy State Coroner Paul MacMahon terminated his inquest into the disappearance and presumed death of Sydney nurse Mary Louise Wallace and referred the evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr MacMahon said he was satisfied that the evidence was capable of satisfying a jury beyond reasonable doubt that a known person had committed an indictable offence relating to the death. Check...

Lane collapsed and screamed as the jury foreman handed down the majority decision after a trial which lasted more than four months. Medics had to be called as Lane fell onto the dock howling, as her family and friends also sobbed in distress. Those charges relate to the adoption of two other children, one born before and one after Tegan.

Crimes & Misdemeanors: The mystery of Mary
http://crimesmisdemeanors.blogspot.com/2010/10/mystery-of-mary.html
The mystery of Mary. It was once NSW's most high-profile missing person case involving a bogus cop, a missing nurse, a mysterious letter and a heartbroken family. The year was 1983 and Sydney was gripped with the disappearance of nurse Mary Louise Wallace. Police believed then they knew who had killed the 33-year-old from Drummoyne. They thought he was a local who worked as a garbage truck driver and was also known to pose as a police officer. But what happened next is unclear. According to several media...

Crimes & Misdemeanors: Whatever happened to Mary Wallace?
http://crimesmisdemeanors.blogspot.com/2010/12/whatever-happened-to-mary-wallace.html
Whatever happened to Mary Wallace? Police are still trying to find the answers 27 years later. They have paraded through the Glebe Coroner's Court witness box all week, respectable middle-aged men and women, sadder and a little jaded, not the bright young adults of the early 1980s, enjoying their leisure hours on Sydney's lower north shore, drinking and partying. Adams, who could neither read nor write, worked as a railway labourer, carpenter and furniture maker. But he started to drink heavily and b...

http://crimesmisdemeanors.blogspot.com/2010/12/police-killer-bandali-debs-among.html
Police killer Bandali Debs among thousands linked to unsolved crimes. POLICE killer Bandali Debs is one of more than 7500 people Victoria Police's DNA database has matched to unsolved crimes they weren't even suspects for. In the past decade the force's database has linked possible offenders to more than 100 murders and rapes, and thousands of less serious crimes. Debs might never have been considered a suspect were it not for the DNA database linking him to the crime scene where Ms Harty's body was found.

21 years for the addict who left Sergeant Samantha for dead. Crimes & Misdemeanors: Did PIC plot to ruin an officer?
http://crimesmisdemeanors.blogspot.com/2010/12/did-pic-plot-to-ruin-officer.html
Did PIC plot to ruin an officer? THE powerful Police Integrity Commission (PIC) has been exposed for inflating evidence, bias and schooling a key witness. In his harshest criticism of the organisation, the Inspector of the PIC, Peter Moss QC, said the commission had been unremittingly unfair and had blackened the reputation of former detective sergeant Brad Hosemans. It is Mr Moss's 11th report in a row that has been scathing of the police force's own corruption watchdog. The woman came forward more than...
