Nupix, LLC was formed in March of 2000 as a renaming of Moore Vision started March 1999. Dr. Chad Moore, the founder of Nupix, invented one of the company's key technologies in 1994 while working for Corning Incorporated. Corning patented the technology of adding wire electrodes to complex-shaped glass fibers and tubes to build the panel structure in an electronic display and Nupix has licensed exclusive rights to the patent.

Note that the bright lines between pixels is a result of scoring the transparent conductive electrodes with a razor blade. Therefore, there is no transparent electrode above or below the liquid crystal at these lines to switch the liquid crystal material.
