Surviving Medical Residency and Deployment One Call at a Time. Thursday, December 30, 2010. The Potty That Stole Christmas. I made the always crowd-pleasing White Chocolate Cherry Chunkies. Courtesy of Paula Deen):. Also on the menu was Black-Bottom Peanut Butter Mousse Pie. Side photo from epicurious.com. My husband told me to "never make this again" as he inhaled the pie in one large bite. Finally, I made Alton Brown's Shepard's Pie. Trust me though, it was delicious. He already had a small doll that w...

Dr. Army Wife: The Worm
http://dr-armywife.blogspot.com/2011/08/worm.html
Surviving Medical Residency and Deployment One Call at a Time. Wednesday, August 24, 2011. I see a lot of disgusting things at work and it takes a lot to gross me out. This morning, however, I made a particularly gruesome discovery. I was out walking Libby and she was doing her.ahem.business. I looked down and what did I see? Tapeworms to be specific. I will spare you sample images. If you're interested, feel free to google. We are now embarking on a mass genocide. Tapeworm execution. Worm murder. That i...

Dr. Army Wife: Not For One.
http://dr-armywife.blogspot.com/2011/10/not-for-one.html
Surviving Medical Residency and Deployment One Call at a Time. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Out of the corner of my eye. My shopping cart goes in reverse. My mouth starts watering. That cardboard can with metal ends. The way it opens with a. I can't resist it. All I want is just one roll. But the smallest can has five. How many calories in five? Of the simple fact. That it's just me. I leave the rolls behind. For someone else to buy. Someone without a husband. Someday I'll wake up. To that sweet aroma.

Dr. Army Wife: June 2011
http://dr-armywife.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Surviving Medical Residency and Deployment One Call at a Time. Sunday, June 26, 2011. Red is Positive, Black is Negative. As I've mentioned before, there's a little thing called Murphy's Law of Deployment. It strikes again and again to family members of the military. I've been pretty lucky so far and have not had too many issues with Mr. Murphy. Regardless, I have been forced to learn a few things along the way about self-reliance and independence. Try to jump start his car on my own! I opened the jumper...

Dr. Army Wife: February 2011
http://dr-armywife.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Surviving Medical Residency and Deployment One Call at a Time. Sunday, February 27, 2011. Two short weeks ago, I was standing in a dark parking lot waiting for this:. Photo: http:/ allpawstransport.com/. Will they look like they do in their pictures? Will they be as loving as we hope? Will they be scared? Oh my, will they be cold? Woah, what did I get myself into? Again, what did I get myself into? I felt uneasy. I thought perhaps I made a mistake and this dog was going to be too much for me to handl...

Dr. Army Wife: March 2011
http://dr-armywife.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Surviving Medical Residency and Deployment One Call at a Time. Sunday, March 27, 2011. I watch the clock as it changes. I lay between them. My husband to my left and my dog to my right. The silence is broken by simultaneous snores. It's like a band - an orchestra. I look over at my husband. I run my hands over his back. Remember this," I think. Soon the band will be a solo. Just me and the dog. At least while I'm awake. I close my eyes. I listen to the music of my family. I smile and I drift off to sleep.
