Renaissance Rainey: February 2009
http://jeffrainey.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 21, 2009. They made fresh spaghetti sauce, salsa, bread and butter pickles. My dad recently mailed me all the original recipes he and my mom used for caning. I’m looking forward to recreating these favorites this year. This is why I jumped back in to gardening! Working in the soil is something primal, the hunter-gatherer, like working with clay and producing a vase. The investment and reward are, well rewarding. When I decided to return to this family activity I did so with the old ways.

Renaissance Rainey: Gym Time
http://jeffrainey.blogspot.com/2008/12/gym-time.html
Saturday, December 13, 2008. 160;I work out . 4-5 times a week. . Sometimes I like it and sometimes it’s a living hell; anything is better than this! I’m not sure when I got old I just arrived at this point in my life. One day I was working in my organic vegetable garden, taking compost and leaf mulch from the woods and the next thing I knew I was running from angry yellow jackets and the next moment tumbling into the rich dark earthy humus, yellow jackets buzzing above me. After all, . Did I mention ...

Saturday, June 7, 2008. Full Contact Organic Gardening. Thanks to all who have called, send notes or cards. I came home on Friday, six days after the injury. I am getting around with limited assistance. Thank you for your prayers and kind thoughts. For those of you who scratched your heads, wondering how I "fell in my garden,". I would like to clarify: I practice a rarely heard of form of "Full Contact Organic Gardening! All of my sports training emerged; I ran directly down the trench I had previously d...

Bass Slayer: July 2011
http://bassslayer.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Lies and confessions of a bass and trout junkie. Saturday, July 30, 2011. Bassin at Brush Hollow. A photo by .olson family. Brush Hollow is my top pick for bass in the Pikes Peak Region. This is not a part of the country known for great bass fishing, but Brush Hollow is a good refuge for a bass junkie like me. This morning was great. I got four really descent bass putting around in my float tube. Largemouth bass on a fly rod - what a blast! Posted by The Olson Family. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Bass Slayer: December 2011

Lies and confessions of a bass and trout junkie. Sunday, December 11, 2011. I read somewhere that a nymph rig works best when you add just enough weight to get all the way off the bottom without hanging up every cast. When it comes to river fishing I am definitely all about nymph tactics. When it's 15 degrees, you have no choice. Posted by The Olson Family. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bass Slayer: Monument Lake - First Day Out

Lies and confessions of a bass and trout junkie. Friday, May 27, 2011. Monument Lake - First Day Out. Iphone pic by . olson. A photo by . olson. Today was my first day on the water this year. I have good excuses for my tardiness: Iraq, surgery, and a nagging sense of responsibility. I hit Monument Lake at dawn. I got off to a fast start with several bites before hooking this bow. Posted by The Olson Family. June 2, 2011 at 7:55 AM. Glad you are out and at it! June 15, 2011 at 5:10 PM. N VA Trout Unlimited.

Bass Slayer: Float Tube Heaven
http://bassslayer.blogspot.com/2011/09/float-tube-heaven.html
Lies and confessions of a bass and trout junkie. Sunday, September 11, 2011. A photo by .olson family. I spent some time on a previous post discussing my preferred popper strategies. My approach is simple but it definitely works at Brush Hollow - the local mecca for bass fishing from a float tube. Posted by The Olson Family. September 11, 2011 at 6:40 PM.
