Retired Reflections: April 2006

Wednesday, April 26, 2006. Chernobyl - Living in a Nuclear town. But what I hated most was the attitude of nearly everyone who worked here - from the ironworker building the plant to the phd nuclear scientist - was the attitude of nuclear definitely being safe as if we were stupid to question it. Ralph Nader visited our town and there were many pickets at his speech. Many of the local scientists here have worked with the scientists at Chernobyl over the years to help with the cleanup. A good friend w...

Retired Reflections: November 2005
http://retiredreflections.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 28, 2005. Thinking back part of my not liking it here was that I was transplanted from a very different environment. Originally from New York, I had spent the prior 3 years in Tacoma and the west side of the state. I also was home with 2 young children and longing for things I enjoyed. Thanksgiving Day and this past Saturday I hiked up Badger Mountain. Posted by Mary @ 11:19 AM. Links to this post. Sunday, November 27, 2005. Last night we went dancing. We usually go at least once a w...

Thursday, December 22, 2005. When I started this blog, I was unsure if I would find a "voice". Not even sure how long it would last. I will try to continue in the NY and see where it goes. Retired Reflections: October 2005
http://retiredreflections.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 31, 2005. I would guess that everyone who makes it into their sixties has some worries even if they may not use that word. In my case it is not about finances or health. I have a sister and a son that often cause me to loose some sleep. I am sure that I will post something about them at some point. Tomorrow I am going to Minnesota to see our older son who is rarely a worry. He and his wife are taking a vacation and I am headed out there to babysit the two children. Posted by Mary @ 4:27 PM.

Retired Reflections: August 2006
http://retiredreflections.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 30, 2006. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the end of August. I am sure that every couple that reaches this milestone wonders where the time went. We have not reached it without some wonder. how did we survive it all, what did we do that made marriage work when so many fail, would we do it again? I often say it is luck because what insight can one possibly have at 20? Posted by Mary @ 1:40 PM. Links to this post. Washington State, United States. View my complete profile.

Retired Reflections: January 2006
http://retiredreflections.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 30, 2006. Check out this link to the Mid Columbia 99s. We did a Kids Aviation Day last Saturday at the Tri Cities Airport. We had 89 kids and many parents coming and going. There were 6 units on various aspects of flying and we rotated kids through the units in groups of 10-15. We have done this several times before and even though we have got it down to a routine, it is still fun to see it all go smoothly. Posted by Mary @ 10:00 AM. Links to this post. Altho you will find others out there.

Retired Reflections: July 2006
http://retiredreflections.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 16, 2006. Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us only sky. Imagine all the people. Imagine there's no countries. It isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for. And no religion too. Imagine all the people. Living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will be as one. I wonder if you can. No need for greed or hunger. A brotherhood of man. Imagine all the people. Sharing all the world.

Reports of Past Section Meetings. Hosted by the Austin Chapter. The meeting was held at the Inn on Barons Creek right near all the Main Street activities. Friday began with a fascinating tour of the Mooney Factory, followed by shopping in the historic downtown or visiting the National Museum of the Pacific War. The day wrapped up with a wonderful welcome reception at the nearby Woerner Warehouse. At the banquet the new SCS officers were installed by International Vice-President Jan McKenzie (see Board.

Retired Reflections: February 2006
http://retiredreflections.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2006. On Friday we went to a wildlife refuge north of here. We led a hike for a group we belong to. We had a total of 19 which for me is the limit on these hikes. On Thursday the wind blew hard through this area so we were anticipating tumbleweeds strewn across our path but we lucked out. Had a beautiful day and ate our lunch on top of a mesa.
