NYA Rocket Class: Week 7-Launch Day!
http://nyarocket.blogspot.com/2011/04/week-7-launch-day.html
Building a better future one kid at a time. Monday, April 4, 2011. In any case, all of the rockets launched perfectly. We equipped some with B engines and some with C engines giving the students a taste of how different each of the engines are. They were all very excited to see the intense speed and power these little engines provided, and were thrilled that all of the parachutes worked and their rockets were recovered. Now it is on to bigger and more powerful rockets! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

NYA Rocket Class: March 2011
http://nyarocket.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Building a better future one kid at a time. Sunday, March 13, 2011. Week 6-Keep on Building. We started off this week with another review of the rocket designations bringing each student to the board to fill in the rocket's total impulse, thrust, burn time, and delay time. This week went a lot faster than last and we could tell their confidence was building! Thursday, March 3, 2011. 501-10.00 N·s. 1001-20.00 N·s. 2001-40.00 N·s. 4001-80.00 N·s. 897-17.92 lbf·s. 8001-160.00 N·s. 1793-35.96 lbf·s. The prog...

NYA Rocket Class: Week 5-Start Building!
http://nyarocket.blogspot.com/2011/03/week-5-start-building.html
Building a better future one kid at a time. Thursday, March 3, 2011. We started the class with a 10 minute review of the engine name designations, the current US launch vehicles, and the definition of thrust and total impulse. Given a table with the total impulse ranges for each letter the students could pick a total impulse and subsequently find the average thrust, total burn time and engine delay time. For example:. 501-10.00 N·s. 1001-20.00 N·s. 2001-40.00 N·s. 4001-80.00 N·s. 897-17.92 lbf·s. St Matt...

NYA Rocket Class: Week 9-Test Stand
http://nyarocket.blogspot.com/2011/04/week-9-test-stand.html
Building a better future one kid at a time. Monday, April 4, 2011. The students were asked to find the thrust at each division of the graph and average them all together to get an average thrust. Next, they had to find the burn time, multiply it by the average thrust to come up with a specific impulse. Finally, they had to find the delay time. Once all of these three elements were found they could figure out the engine designation. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). NYA Online Learning Center.
