About the Ruakituri Eco Retreat. The Ruakituri Retreat is an architecturally designed fully self contained lodge overlooking the famous Ruakituri River. There are 3 main bedrooms with Queen sized beds in each room. All bedrooms are on the top story with 2 rooms overlooking the river and the third room overlooking the parkland grounds. The rooms are accessed by a timber spiral staircase and feature polished timber floors and large cathedral windows looking out to the view.

World Famous Trout Fishery. The Ruakituri river offers approximately 70 kilometres of arguably the best rainbow and brown trout fishing in the world. There is no stocking and trout are completely wild, which when combined with the rugged river environment they live in, makes for world class fly fishing at its best. Trout range in size from 2.5lb up to 7lb in the lower and middle reaches and average around 4.5lb. In the upper reaches trout range from 4lb up to 11lb and average 5lb.
