Scratch Working in the Sorting Pen. December 13, 2015. The Sorting Pen had its own problems with all the cows and another gate to squeeze them through. All-in-all it was a good effort for our first time in the sorting pen and I was real happy with the way Scratch handle the situation. The Competition is Over. October 21, 2015.

Did everything go exactly as planned? Not with horses, rarely with anything else. We made good progress. Scratch spent the week in his square pen. I did think he would hook up to me a little quicker. http://oakcreekhorse.blogspot.com/2015/07/its-whole-new-world-out-there.html
Chronicles of an amateur trainer working with a Wild Horse of Oak Creek from June - October 2015. Thursday, July 2, 2015. It's a Whole New World Out There. Scratch got his first taste of the saddle. It's been a couple of good weeks with Scratch. It was quite an adventure. I was having problems getting the front cinch done up. Scratch had blown up so much I could not get to the first hole. Who knew a horse could suck in that much air? We left the yard today. Leading Scratch has improved and we walk ar...

Vaquero Heritage Trainers Challenge: What's in a Name
http://oakcreekhorse.blogspot.com/2015/06/whats-in-name.html
Chronicles of an amateur trainer working with a Wild Horse of Oak Creek from June - October 2015. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. What's in a Name. Little Billy Shakespeare was right when he said " A rose by any other name is still a rose. After many wonderful suggestions and much ruminating, (always good to toss a cow joke in a horse blog), we're calling my new horse "Scratch". It's one thing to study horsemanship - read books, magazine articles, watch videos - it's another to apply it to an un-started horse&...

http://oakcreekhorse.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Chronicles of an amateur trainer working with a Wild Horse of Oak Creek from June - October 2015. Saturday, May 30, 2015. You would think you could get a little. Cooperation once in awhile. I'm not asking for much. Jessie and Dusty live side-by-side. They have for like 8 years now. In preparing for the new Oak Creek horse, I thought I would get a round pen for us to work in. If I could get Dusty and Jessie to bunk together, I could put the new horse in Jessie's paddock. On to housing plan B. I am a write...

Covert Studios: July 2014
http://covertstudios.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 17 July 2014. Gee its hot here, most days it is over 112 fahrenheit. This heat makes things in the studio slow, from sitting in a pool of sweat too not being able to spray cans outside till dark. That being said I have managed to work on some models. My Whisper that I last posted about here. Has gotten her butt prepped. Still need to work on the eye details and a few little bits but she is looking a lot better then here. But I'm not happy with the shade he is, so still tinkering around with him.
