Oaks to Acorns: April 2015
http://oakstoacorns.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Oaks are a wonder; I aim for acorns. Published with three other pieces on Necessary Fiction. Summer’s down to a simmer. But still here to savor. A sole sunflower stands. In the field of sticky weeds. I eye it in the morning. It eyes me in the evening. My vase remains empty. Posted by Elizabeth Hornor Boquet. Emily Dickinson, (ED) #556. The Brain, within its Groove . Runs evenly- and true- . But let a Splinter swerve- . Twere easier for You—. To put a Current back- . And scooped a Turnpike for. BTW, B...

Serious attire, serious writing. March 30, 2014. This weekend’s writing task was an arduous one – write a poem. My writing work is focused on fiction these days, and now that I’ve gone back to blogging, the occasional return to the personal essay. But poetry? I think myself too pragmatic for poetry, too feet-on-the-earth. The only way I’ll smell the roses is if I’m weeding the bed. I envy poets, and I love to read poetry. The idea of writing any makes me squirm in discomfort. To benefit a great cause.

Serious attire, serious writing. I Deserve a Cold One. September 18, 2014. One last back-to-school story before I put on the bathrobe and do some real writing. I plonked my can on the counter and dashed out to watch her get off. Wrong bus. I went back inside to pay for my drink and explained to the store manager, who was looking at me as if I might have just escaped from the institution, that it was a different bus. Did people not often put things on the counter, run away, and return? I could start a tre...

Serious attire, serious writing. Category Archives: Comfy Clothes. Something old, Something blue. March 24, 2014. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to blog – at least twenty-four hours (the part when I wasn’t sleeping). I’m not new to the blog world. I blogged for a few years for the Skirt! I can’t text a top ten list. My friends will get annoyed if my Facebook status updates are too long. Twitter only gives me 140 characters. You don’t like baby animals? Go away, then). Serious attire, serious writing. June 12, 2014. It is no great surprise to me that I haven’t blogged in a while. For me, I’m right on schedule, even. If you had expected more, I am sorry about that. I bet you’ve already gotten over it. So that my poor neglected blog doesn’t feel left out, I thought I’d make a list of all the other things that need some getting done as spring turns into summer. 4) Doing something about my giant lavenders. Can one prune lavenders? 6) Middlemarch. I keep saying I need t...

I’m not new to the blog world. I blogged for a few years for the Skirt! I’ve spent the greater part of the past two years working on writing fiction. This is as easy and painless as a root canal, and I find that I miss the ease of my old blog. With whom can I share my silly stories now? Go away, then). All of th...

Not Writing | blue bathrobe

Serious attire, serious writing. Category Archives: Not Writing. If It Sits Like a Swan…. May 1, 2016. I was driving down the highway, sagely in the right lane. I saw the white form ahead well before I passed it – a plastic bag, perhaps, I thought. I slowed down as I drove by it. In the left lane, sitting dead in the middle, was a large swan. I imagined accidents filled with squealing brakes and a cloud of feathers. I called the local police from the car. (Bluetooth, of course, not to worry). You look cu...

Oakstock Telecommunications
Oakstock Telecommunications knows what they’re talking about. They didn’t waste any time, and figured out a solution to our networking problem, quick, fast and in a hurry. We were getting lost in a sea of technology surrounding the telecommunications market, and quite frankly we didn’t know which way was up. Oakstock not only helped us regain our bearings, but they were also able to recommend the perfect set of products for our office. Thanks Oakstock!
