國科會『海洋學門年會』為台灣海洋科學界每年一度的盛會。『海峽兩岸海洋科學研討會』，緣自於1991年，由台灣大學莊文思教授、中國大陸第二海洋研究所蘇紀蘭院士、及海外傑出華人海洋學家薛亞教授共同發起，並於杭州首次舉辦，是海峽兩岸海洋學者進行學術交流的盛會，也是兩岸科學家最早開展的民間學術交流研討會之一。依協議，每兩年由海峽兩岸輪流主辦，至今已成功舉辦了九屆。第十屆會議將於2014年春天在台北市福華飯店國際文教會館舉辦，會議將圍繞中國臨海及西太平洋等鄰近海域的科學議題進行研討。
