The Forbidden Stomach: Duck of China
http://forbiddenstomach.blogspot.com/2009/03/duck-of-china.html
Food fit for emperors and eunuchs in Beijing. Monday, March 23, 2009. For any self-respecting Beijing food blog, it would be a joke to have gone so long without a post on the city's most famous dish, the Peking Duck. Thankfully, The Forbidden Stomach is shameless. Still, after a particularly memorable night out with the famed bird dish, I feel inspired to embrace social norms and share with you, my three faithful readers, about the duck. That cool place which also has the Noodle Bar. It pipped Dadong Kao...

The Forbidden Stomach: All-Star burger
http://forbiddenstomach.blogspot.com/2009/11/all-star-burger.html
Food fit for emperors and eunuchs in Beijing. Saturday, November 7, 2009. I have not blogged for three months, and of course, it is not my fault. The darn Chinese government still refuses to lift the ban on Blogspot and it has been having a big buffet. Of events, leaving me with more meal times with Maggi than Maison Boulud. But fret not, my dear clan of fans. The Forbidden Stomach is back from its three-month long diet! And i managed to get into your blog just in time too! December 3, 2009 at 1:50 AM.

The Forbidden Stomach: Quarter of peace
http://forbiddenstomach.blogspot.com/2009/04/quarter-of-peace.html
Food fit for emperors and eunuchs in Beijing. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I have a feeling we are not in Beijing anymore. Named the Legation Quarter. So there. Shuddup. It is not "Yes We Can". It is "Yes I Can". The brunch got off to a good start with a lovely selection of pastries and danish, delightfully laid out on the table with flowers, slabs of butter and apple sauce among others. The Fettucini Carbonara with poached yolk and black pepper pork belly was not too creamy, and with the yolk mixing in th...

The Forbidden Stomach: The Duck Nazi
http://forbiddenstomach.blogspot.com/2010/01/duck-nazi.html
Food fit for emperors and eunuchs in Beijing. Friday, January 1, 2010. A new year, a fresh discovery - Liqun Peking Duck. This is the place where foreigners come so that they can eat like the locals. But when so many expats flock over, erm, where are the locals? Case in point: I had French and Japanese as neighbours at adjacent tables earlier tonight. The reason why foreigners love Liqun is because it is local. It is buried in a hutong. Chief Bitch Waitress (CBW): Your bill is 426 yuan. The poor Jap girl...

The Forbidden Stomach: Dongs and ducks
http://forbiddenstomach.blogspot.com/2009/04/dongs-and-ducks.html
Food fit for emperors and eunuchs in Beijing. Sunday, April 5, 2009. While not many have heard of Duck de Chine. Dadong is a well-known name in the culinary bird circles of Beijing since 1996. It has been frequented by many luminaries including, ahem, Singapore's President S R Nathan (check out his Chinese autograph! And Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. And every kid growing up in the 1970s and 80s has been to the Jurong Bird Park. 1 A lovely plain duck broth soup, made from the remainder of the duck.

The Forbidden Stomach: Hard Rock chicken
http://forbiddenstomach.blogspot.com/2009/05/hard-rock-chicken.html
Food fit for emperors and eunuchs in Beijing. Thursday, May 14, 2009. There are only five types of people who still go to the Hard Rock Cafe in Beijing. 1) Losers who still think that Hard Rock T-shirts are cool. 2) Clueless tourists staying at the adjacent Sheraton who have no idea where to grab a decent bite in Beijing. 4) Men looking for prostitutes. I was there early and quickly checked the menu. Holy chickens, there it was! My goodness, maybe Elvis really is alive. It was, as my friend Pat said, a r...
