For the BBC it’s Silent Witness and Death In Paradise, while for ITV it’s Endeavour and Midsomer Murders. Firstly Endeavour broke one of the Decalogue. Unsurprisingly it all kicked off about the care.data scheme that I last posted about, and it turns out that there are a lot better informed and better resourced people than I with an eye for this sort of thing. I wrote and currently maintain portify – a tool that can convert audio files from any file format to any other (given the right encoders being available on the resident host, of course). The intention is to allow people with heterogeneous music collections (FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, mp3, etc.) to create a mirror of that collection in a playable format.
