Keith Co. Historical Society. MANSION ON THE HILL. Ogallala was a wild and woolly cow town in 1887 when I was built. I sat outside of town on a hill like the classy lady I was intended to be. The quality that went into my building made me a jewel on the prairie and the pride of the community. I've now lasted so long that I was put on the National Register of Historic Places. The admission fee is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 5 - 12 and children under 5 are free.
