8221;Writing is simply a form of speaking which endures after it is uttered … the soul of our words. ” – Castiglione. October 21, 2012. August 20, 2013. 8220;there are many things that we concede exist; what their qualities are we do not know. … Why, then, are we surprised that comets, such a rare spectacle in the universe, are not yet grasped by fixed laws and that their beginning and end are not known, when their return is at vast intervals? Eine odyssee in dem land der deutschen / an odyssey to the land of the germans. Thursday, March 30, 2006. Day 1 in Freiburg. The Snow began to settle in (looking away from the city). At the end of the first week we took a trip into the Black Forest on Saturday. This is the church of a monastery up in the mountains. http://nealstephenson.livejournal.com/10861.html
Anathem - first thoughts. I picked up Anathem last night from Audible - turns out I'd missed a month and had two credits accumulated, and hey looky, Anathem is worth 2 credits. I used to completely dork out reading science fiction that laboriously defined units of measurement and time and critters and religious ceremonies and technology and what have you.
