Chipping Away (MAF): July 2006
http://mafpoker.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 21, 2006. I haven't posted for a while, so here goes with an update. In order to progress in these tournaments, you have to win your coinflips. There's nothing wrong with the way I played either hand, but you need luck on your side at times. This time it wasn't to be. The tournament was won by Primitive who I know is a very experienced tournament player. I honestly believe he will do well in the WSOP as he certainly won't be overawed. Chipping Away (MAF): February 2006

Sunday, February 12, 2006. I played with Phil Ivey. Last Thursday, I got home late after watching Goldfrapp in concert. I wasn't tired, and fancied playing a bit of poker before I went to bed. The only problem is that the waiting list was 40 deep. I put my name down and decided to see how long it would take. It was around 11pm at the time. I played on another table for a while, then watched my friend Tall Paul play the final stages on a tournament. Posted by Mark Flynn @ 3:37 pm. ITH Leagues - what a win!

Chipping Away (MAF): September 2006

Thursday, September 07, 2006. I'm having problems with my broadband connection at home. In fact, I've had this problem for a while. I use a wireless connection, but every so often, the whole connection to the internet would fail (all the lights would go out and the modem would reset). I lost my internet connection and my hand was folded pre-flop. Nooooooo! Posted by Mark Flynn @ 3:10 pm. Things aren't working as planned. I have a game-plan, but nothing seems to be working at the moment:. Its been a while.

Chipping Away (MAF): August 2005
http://mafpoker.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 15, 2005. I've been playing Poker now since around December 2003, although I didn't actually start playing for money until October 2004. I had been playing on sites with 'play' money in the meantime, just trying to learn the game. I mainly concentrate on tournaments at present, mostly 'Sit 'n Go's (SNGs) and sometimes the odd Multi Table Tournament (MTT). I've tried to play limit ring games, but don't seem to do well in them. Thank you for reading! Posted by Mark Flynn @ 9:31 pm.

Chipping Away (MAF): October 2006

Friday, October 13, 2006. US banning online gaming. Today George Bush is expected to sign a new law making it illegal for online gaming firms to accept payments from players in the US. This will therefore make it difficult for US poker players to play online as the companies will not be able to accept payments from them. Why are they doing this? The reason this was done was to avoid any possible objections or defeat. Which senator is going to vote against Port Security? Well, I can see 2 obvious things:.

Friday, August 25, 2006. The lastest craze now is for people to play HORSE games. A lot of the major sites have now started opening tables in ring games and tournaments devoted to HORSE. I've now started giving them a try myself. So, "what is HORSE? I hear you say! It's multiple poker games played one after the other. HORSE is an acronym for the different forms of poker played:. H - Holdem (Limit). E - Stud Eight. The good thing about these HORSE games is that most players don't have a clue about most of...

Chipping Away (MAF): April 2006
http://mafpoker.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 11, 2006. March wasn't a good month. March wasn't a good month. In total, I lost about $70 over the 5 accounts I have money held. This is in comparison to the gain of $204 I made in February (made up mostly of the $162 I won in the ITH league event). Now some people may think $70 is nothing, but a loss is a loss, and I was worried about why the losses occured. With a renewed confidence, here's hoping for a better April. Chipping Away (MAF): November 2005
http://mafpoker.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 12, 2005. Shortly after writing about my first ever Royal Straight Flush earlier this year, I go and get another one. This one happened in a tournament, in fact the weekly Euro League matches held at Absolute Poker every Wednesday. This was on 19th October 2005. As it turned out, the only other player in the hand had made a straight, so I know I made a mistake there. In short, I held AcJc. Flop was 8s Tc Kc. Turn Qc :-). River Js. Chipping Away (MAF): May 2006
http://mafpoker.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 05, 2006. My tournament in Las Vegas. Here is a report on the tournament I entered whilst in Las Vegas. I played at the Aladdin where the tournaments were $50 for 1000 chips plus an optional add-on of a further 1000 for just $10. 44 players entered and the top 6 got paid. I started slowly as I struggled to get any hands. In fact bizarrely in the first orbit I was dealt K7 5 times! I tried to play 99 and 88 but missed the flop and folded to bets. Then I moved tables. Last week was my 40th birt...

Thursday, October 27, 2005. My best week to date. I'm continuing the theme of talking about past events that have happened in my short poker life as I build up this blog. Eventually I will catch-up and talk about current events. My best week to date in poker occurred between the dates of 24th June to 3rd July 2005. It is no understatement to say that this week really changed my poker 'career'. I didn't get to bed until around 5am, but it was worth it! So, I won the tournament, which obviously I was over ...
