December 1, 2014. Dwarfed by sky high towers and blur of moving bodies,. I feel so small here in New York. And I am small. Even my pain, fears, and insecurities. Whenever my parents found me curled up in my bed cradling my broken spirit, heart, and confidence, they comforted my soul by telling me that life is malleable, that the world is vast, and that life’s possibilities extend as far as my creativity and imagination, and sense of adventure allow. Chin up, my father always kindly reminded me with a wink.

May 22, 2015. In middle school, I was a true creeper. (Surprise! I observed young couples thirteen, fourteen, fifteen-year-olds – share kisses, stroke each other’s arms, and tuck pieces of hair behind each other’s ears. It all seemed so natural but very adult to me, and slightly confusing, like watching teenage actors playing the parts of grown-ups. My brother would be the first to magically disappear. March 11, 2015. What My Mother Taught Me. I remember very distinctly, at five years old, deciding that I wanted more than anything to be like my mother when I grew up. She was the most beautiful person I’d ever seen in all my five years. I must have prayed each night for that entire year for God to stop the time so that she would never grow old and die. His response –. You’re cute, kid but no. My mother is growing so gracefully, and I am realizing something very special about her. She is not just a mother.

Every day, I ponder deeply about how I can make others happy because I am so incredibly filled and moved by the kindness and the beauty all around me. I am unsophisticated about what it takes to change the world, but I am guided by my belief and passion that I can be a life force for change.
