Oh no, not another travel blog! Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Fighting the mighty Xocomil. February 10, 2012. The Xocomil is a local weather phenomenon here on Lake Atitlán. The name means something along the lines of “the wind that takes away the sins of the people”. It forms in the afternoon for reasons best explained by others. Whatever its explanation, it is a weather phenomenon I probably should have familiarised myself with. The quiet before the storm. I’m not 20 anymore.
