Sometimes it Hurts Being Beautiful | oilandcanvas
https://oilandcanvas.wordpress.com/2012/01/29/sometimes-it-hurts-being-beautiful
Just another WordPress.com site. Sometimes it Hurts Being Beautiful. Asymp; 5 Comments. James Tissot- Mme Baele. After my last post I thought about how women today often go to great lengths in order to stay thin, while some even suffer from eating disorders. I also thought about plastic surgery, botox, breast implants, hair extensions, etc just to falsify a youthful looking appearance. One last interesting fact; some women were reported to have had their ribs removed so their corsets could be tighteryikes.

Just another WordPress.com site. James Tissot…A Passion for Details. Asymp; 2 Comments. Something I find intriguing when viewing paintings is the story that the painting can create. James Tissot has a way with telling a story with the use of composition and great attention to details. He often leaves the viewer wanting to know more about the people or places he has painted. Just another WordPress.com site. Low Class Characteristics in a High Class Advertising World. Asymp; 1 Comment. As more paintings are shown in class I frequently find myself gravitating back to the theme of how women are portrayed in the London, Edo, Paris, and New York paintings. And how they are portrayed now. It’s interesting that the women who seemed to have more freedom were those who held a lower place in society. Often seen alone, as in Edouard Manet’s. Furthermore, mistresses at the turn of the c...

Art at the Turn of the 20th Century. Four Basic Visual Elements in Art. Gaze and Fashion in Art. Visual Element #2- the line. January 30, 2012. Art at the Turn of the 20th Century. Four Basic Visual Elements in Art. Gaze and Fashion in Art. Utamaro’s Bamboo Blind. January 31, 2012. Kitagawa Utamaro, Bamboo Blind, 1780. This is Utamaro’s Bamboo Blind. Though it’s not from the blog’s time period focus (late 19th to early 20th century), we discussed this painting during the Seattle Art Museum and it captured my attention most of all, so I thought I would explain why by discussing the physiognamy and fashion in the picture. I haven’t had the c...

Oil & Butter
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Something I've been wanting to try for a while is beer soap. From what I've read, the extra sugar in beer really adds a nice lather to the soap, so I was very curious to try it. Now, let me first say, I am not a beer drinker, so I was just amazed at the different kinds of craft beer available! Before you can use beer in soap, you need to prepare it, which I have demonstrated in the video below:. As always, thanks for stopping by! Thursday, May 14, 2015. 2 Your lye must be cool.
