Oklahoma Rotary District 5770 GSE trip to Denmark. We are the Rotary GSE team from district 5770. This blog is about our trip to Denmark in September 2008. Thursday, September 11, 2008. We visited the town of Ribe today, which is the oldest town in Denmark. It dates back to about 700 A.D. We visited the Ribe Viking museum, and walked around the town taking pictures of just about everything. The first picture is a road that dates back to around 700 A.D. and is still used today. Thursday, we had quite an interesting day. We began the day at Mønsted Kalkgruber, which are limestone caves that also house bats. We looked all over for the bats so that we could take some pictures, but we never could find them! We saw a few fly past us, though. Here are a few pictures from the caves. Friday, Sept 26.

We also went to Måbjergværket, which is basically an incinerator for all types of trash. The heat generated from the trash is then pumped back to two towns in the area and used for heating. Fanø and Vocational Day. Tuesday, we visited the Kalmarhouse factory, a maker of pre-built summerhouses. Having a summerhouse in an area by the coast is very popular in Denmark, and a lot of the homes are pre-built and put together on site. Economy. The island is only accesible by ferry and is very beautiful.
