History of the WSDC. Teams from Australia, Canada, England, Hong Kong, New Zealand and the United States contested the first Championships. Historical accident (in the sense of who was able to be contacted and proved willing to send a team) meant that Britain has never been required to field a single team and British colonies (Hong Kong and later Bermuda) were able to enter in their own right. 1991-4: Scotland, England, Canada, New Zealand. 1995-7: Wales, Australia, Bermuda. World Schools Debating Championships
Excellence in debating. International understanding. The World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) is a truly global competition for high school debaters. The Championships take place each year in a different country, hosted by a national debating body. Recent venues include Peru, Qatar, Seoul, Athens and in 2012 Cape Town, South Africa. All debates take place in English. Each country can submit a squad of 3-5 eligible. Students to debate social, moral and political issues. 1993 - Medicine Hat.
