After driving more modern cars for a while I came to rely on the humble cup holder and had actually forgotten that they are a relatively new innovation in the automotive world. They are such a useful and simple thing, it's hard to imagine why we haven't had them forever. It reminds me of the observation that we put man on the moon in 1969 but it took until the 1980's to put wheels on luggage. Posted by Andrew B.

I guess it’s the teeth on the plastic strip. A friend found a universal one, but the moulded plastic part where the aerial comes out of the fender won’t allow it to fit.
