The Medium Run: Everything will be better in the new building
http://mediumrun.blogspot.com/2009/07/everything-will-be-different-once-we.html
Friday, July 31, 2009. Everything will be better in the new building. All right, my friends (and I think we both know who you are): the air in this joint's been getting stale, and all the people who selected this Blogger layout in 2005 are now much more famous than I am. Therefore, The Medium Run is closed until further notice; for the forseeable future, I'll be blogging about entrepreneurial local journalism under my own domain. But with - never fear! Equal sporadicity) at OldForestNewTrees.com.

Michael Andersen: March 2012
http://michaelandersen.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 1, 2012. Each month on my transit news website I do a thing where I curate Portland's best public-transit-related missed connections of the month. It's one of the better ideas I've had and always one of the best parts of my month. This one isn't quite a public transit connection, but I wanted to share it somewhere. It's from 3:03 am on Saturday, Feb. 11. Dear JP. - w4m. After all, it's always been about words. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The D...

Michael Andersen: February 2010
http://michaelandersen.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 27, 2010. Andersen's general theory of free ridership. The bills for all this shit (read: the service industries, the private sector, the West) are not paid by the people who play by the rules. They're paid by the fuckups. Therefore almost everything you buy consists of a bet by the person you're paying that, at some point, you're going to become one of the fuckups. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Michael Andersen: Convention brown-nose ranking 2012
http://michaelandersen.blogspot.com/2012/09/convention-brown-nose-ranking-2012.html
Thursday, September 6, 2012. Convention brown-nose ranking 2012. I used the NYT's characteristically awesome. Infographic about the words most used at the 2012 Democratic and Republican conventions to rank the states in order of how many times they were mentioned by people on stage. The first number is the total mentions at both conventions per 25,000 words spoken. Within the parentheses, the number on the left is Democratic mentions per 25,000 and the number on the right is Republican mentions. Yeah, lo...

Michael Andersen: May 2011
http://michaelandersen.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Working late tonight on the bazillionth self-inflicted writing project of my life, I'm grateful to believe in the mechanics of my job. Some of my friends complain about working long hours for companies whose objectives they share but whose strategies they don't believe in. I keep signing up to do this stuff because I'm certain that words work. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Michael Andersen: November 2011
http://michaelandersen.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 28, 2011. My latest thought about Wikipedia and the cognitive surplus. Is that the most useful object ever constructed by human beings was just a flick of the wrist - a seven-year whim. Of the world's unimaginably powerful labor force of understimulated, implausibly motivated. It was a very lucky whim, and I'm grateful. But we'll never slip a yoke over this beast.
