Old Guy Racer: Cough, Cough...a thick layer of dust.

http://oldguyracer.blogspot.com/2013/06/cough-cougha-thick-layer-of-dust.html

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll write bad cheques. Here's what you're looking for. Thursday, 13 June 2013. Cough, Cough.a thick layer of dust. I've had it in the back of my mind to update this blog but the reason I haven't gotten to it is the same thing that has kept me off the bike to a large extend over the last two years; A young son and a young business which are both huge time suckers. I just hope I don't embarrass myself. If I can pull that off it should be enough to motivate me to train more....

Old Guy Racer: September 2011

http://oldguyracer.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll write bad cheques. Here's what you're looking for. Monday, 5 September 2011. Stage Racing for the Elderly. I've been tossing around a few things lately and one of them was to throttle back a bit for 2012. I've had the hammer down for 3 years and it's starting to take it's toll. With soccer out of the way we went home, played with lego and I loaded the team car for the quick drive to the race. During the team meeting I laid out the game plan. The goal was to do nothing...

Old Guy Racer: January 2011

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll write bad cheques. Here's what you're looking for. Wednesday, 26 January 2011. RACE REPORT: Nantou County 22 Jan 2011. I just couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned all night and just couldn't slip away into blissful slumber. I don't think there was any real reason other than I kept thinking about my 4am alarm. We met at my house so it was easy for me this time. We packed up the team car, headed off for one more coffee and then drove 2 hours to the start. My job was to keep ...

Old Guy Racer: Cycling Faux Pas and Other Shit I Miss.

http://oldguyracer.blogspot.com/2012/06/cycling-faux-pas-and-other-shit-i-miss.html

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll write bad cheques. Here's what you're looking for. Friday, 1 June 2012. Cycling Faux Pas and Other Shit I Miss. Over the last two years a growing family and business has supplanted. My time on the bike. I ride less. I also drink more. There could be a correlation but who can say with any certainty? That's a long, hard stare. So here, in no particular order, are some of the Faux Pas I may have experience with. This list will certainly continue to grow. A saddle bag. I ...

Another Old Guy Racer: March 2009

http://masters50plus.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Another Old Guy Racer. Trying not to get slower as I get older - tell that to my lower back! Tuesday, March 24, 2009. With my training time curtailed by injuries and the fact that a business trip will knock out my next race (San Diego Omnium) I thought I would do a post on my racing bike. I'm on my spring break so I've got some time. Light enough to win a mountain stage. Stiff enough for Tour strongmen to sprint on. Great longevity/durability for carbon. Get a used one for less than most new junk costs.

Another Old Guy Racer: Speed Interval Training

http://masters50plus.blogspot.com/2009/07/speed-interval-training.html

Another Old Guy Racer. Trying not to get slower as I get older - tell that to my lower back! Thursday, July 30, 2009. My next race is the San Ardo Road Race. On Saturday, August 22. With such a big gap in my racing schedule caused by my relocation to Northern California, I've had a lot of time to work on my endurance and stamina. My workouts of late have been to get a couple of hill climbs (see Howell Mt. Road. For the most part I follow Training Peaks. Tuesday: Interval Day (Descending Ladder) - 2' hard...

Busted Helmet: Rocky Lied - Banana Belt #3

http://bustedhelmet.blogspot.com/2011/03/rocky-lied-banana-belt-3.html

Musings of cycling and other stuff. Sunday, March 27, 2011. Rocky Lied - Banana Belt #3. Everyone thinks if they just tried just a little harder. but it's a mind trick. The body only has what it has, and if it's not enough to keep from being dropped, it's not enough. Rocky lied to us. In the end, if you don't have the ability, you don't have the ability, no matter the state of "heart". If only (if only! I had hung on up that hill the second lap. If only (if only! Busted Helmet: December 2010

http://bustedhelmet.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Musings of cycling and other stuff. Thursday, December 30, 2010. I had a pretty good season last year (or rather, for another day at least, this year). The one thing that put a damper on it all was my performance with cyclocross. I was terrible. Cornering was my a-specialty. So, instead of eyeing the corner, translating that into a center, and translate it back to a radius to follow on the bike, why not just actually follow the corner? Tuesday, December 14, 2010. A Bit of a New Direction. A powermeter is...

Busted Helmet: November 2010

http://bustedhelmet.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Musings of cycling and other stuff. Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Stone Soup (or how a little here and a little there wins a BAR). I never peaked, just kinda keep getting slowly stronger as the year progressed. Basically I raced my way into shape. Old school, I guess. And hills are still mynemesis. I couldn't lose weight. Busted Helmet: July 2009

http://bustedhelmet.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Musings of cycling and other stuff. Thursday, July 30, 2009. Cascade. and the end of the season. Because I didn't blow myself up trying to move from 92nd place to 80th, I actually finished the stage feeling pretty good. I was one of the first to go off for the ITT in the Cat 3 field because of my near lanterne rouge. The crit was uneventful. I got a great start and was in the top 20 or so in the field for the first few laps. Then it went like this:. Getting passed - PUSH IT! The second circuit went the s...

http://bustedhelmet.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Musings of cycling and other stuff. Monday, August 24, 2009. Http:/ www.flickr.com/photos/. Jeff Harwood from Ironclad and I cleaned up in the Cat5's on the track at the Team Beer Race at Alpenrose. We ended up tying for first, with the tie-break going to Jeff because he beat me in the final race of the omnium. Whatever happened, I felt absolutely comfortable out there racing. Fun, for a change, instead of nerve racking. Next stop: Cat 4. And match sprints. I can't wait! Friday, August 21, 2009. In any c...
