For his masters recital, he assembled and conducted a choir and chamber orchestra in the premiere performance of the Mass for the Father. Besides composing and conducting, he is an active performer. He was principle timpanist in The Huntington Beach Concert Band. He was elected by the faculty to Pi Kappa Lambda for high academic achievement and is a member of the Golden Key National Honors Society.
