A Long Island Summer In Pictures. Sunday, May 5, 2013. 2013: AN EARLY MAY WALK IN THE PARK. Ready for spring this year! And, a beautiful one it's been so far, with endless sunny days, deep blue skies and warm temperatures with cool breezes. Just a taste of spring color at the back entrance to the wooded section of the park. Even the weeds were spectacular, although these just may be some sort of wildflower, I suppose. The beginning of spring around Melville Park's beautiful lake. A sad remnant of Super S...

A Long Island Summer In Pictures. Sunday, September 16, 2012. A LATE SUMMER STROLL AT STONY BROOK HARBOR. One spectacularly beautiful day this past week in mid-September I had a couple of hours to spare so I decided to head down to Stony Brook Harbor for a late afternoon walk. The air was crystal clear with a deep blue sky. It was warm but very windy. Though glorious, the day gave a definite hint that summer 2012 will soon be over here on Long Island. The Last Rose of Summer? Unfortunately, it is now own...

A Long Island Summer In Pictures. Thursday, July 26, 2012. JAPANESE STROLL GARDEN, HAIKU, AND A BEAUTIFUL DAY. If you'll notice it's been a year since I last posted in this blog. I'm afraid life got in the way to interrupt me. But, here I am again picking up where I left off close to a year ago. While we were there I did a bit of Haiku writing and my husband busied himself with photography. I thought I'd combine the two below. These stepping stones go throughout the entire grounds. Oval, four point, five.

A Long Island Summer In Pictures. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. ON THE ROAD TO MONTAUK. A little of the area's history. The Shinnecock Inlet, with the town of Hampton Bays to it's west and Southampton to it's east, was cut by Mother Nature during the Great Hurricane of 1938. It connects the Atlantic Ocean to Shinnecock Bay. On the opposite shore of the bay sits the Shinnecock Canal which connects the bay to Great Peconic Bay and the North Fork of Long Island. Or, you can watch the local wild life. And, lega...
