Dan Mullen and his Yeezy Boost 350’s. July 15, 2015. For long time readers here, y’all know I love college football. I’m an Ole Miss fan through and through. Because of this, I hate Mississippi State with the fires of a thousand burning suns (because #rivalry). So seeing that Dan Mullen was rocking some of the most sought after sneakers. 8220;I gotta keep it swagged out with my swagilicious Yeezy’s down in Swagsville swaggy swagged swag DERP.”. And we spent Memorial Day at the ballpark, watching our Sox, who are red, lose to the Sox, who are white. It's Monday, Memorial Day, and we've already had great intentions twice and they both were somewhat thwarted. So, before I say more, I'm going to knock on wood, because we are going to the Sox this evening with the best intentions of them winning. And, yeah, three strikes. Sunday, after church, we drive out to Cormier Woods. The good thing, I reckon, is that we drove the Boston Marathon route. After ...

Despite my mother and brother's canceled flights due to the Blizzard of 10, my two buddies Blair and Daniel were able to fly in and enjoy the snow that they rarely get in Bama, except this year which left them with five inches on Christmas day in the South. They'd flown in so we could go catch Phish for the first time in ten years together. Had a blast. I'd talk more about it, but I don't need to. Cause it's all in my brain. Glad they made it up and we got to kick it like old times and sled like new times.

The Wandering Wahoo: June 2015

Saturday, June 6, 2015. Sight, Sound, and Smell Theatre. That’s what they call it. It’s not a term that I made up, though it’s amusing enough to make me wish I had. I’m referring, of course, to the Sight and Sound Theatre. One of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania’s top tourist attractions. It beats out Dutch Wonderland. The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery. And the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. But I’m getting ahead of myself…. Yes, there was a line in "Take Me Out" about dropping the soap. Sight and...

Sunday, June 15, 2014. I'm Gonna Party Like It's 1979. My college reunion at the University of Virginia was last weekend. Thirty-five years in regular math; twenty years in Match.com years. I’m pretty gung ho—the name of this blog is the Wandering Wahoo after all—and a UVa reunion is pretty darned fun, so I made plans to go as soon as the dates of the event were announced. That's my dorm, Emmet, on the left in this oil by Charlottesville artist Edward Thomas, who, interestingly enough, also lived in Emmet.

Saturday, August 1, 2015. Clamshell Pitching and Other Summer Diversions. Even though summer is my busy time at work, I try to leave room for a bit of adventure. In June, I finally got the chance to go to Hesston Speedway. The dirt track that’s about an hour from State College. Rob, the bf of my old intern Karen, drives a sprint car in his spare time and was racing there. Karen offered me the chance to go. I said not just yes, but hell yes. Readers, you might want to sit down for this next part. After it...

I finally got a horse for my birthday. Or at least a ride on one. I'd noticed a while back that our joint calendar had "something special for a special birthday" marked down for Saturday June 25, the weekend preceding my birthday. Micah likes to do surprises for me occasionally, just something he likes planning I guess. In Weston, MA, about 45 minutes away, if that. (did you see the funny horse cartoon on their web page? Yeah, that was on their sign too - so funny! After stopping for a quick water break ...

I miss our old neighborhood at times. Like today, when I went and saw some amazing things going on in a space just a few blocks from our old place. Things like letterpressing and videography and web design and architecture and all kinds of other things under one roof called the Fringe Movement. I went to see a guy who I know that makes amazing films called Paper Fortress. And another guy called Repeat Press. Who I'd been wanting to swing by and see, who makes prints like they did in the 1890s. Well, thos...
