Olivia Alice: Honduras is a Great Country!

http://www.olivialice.blogspot.com/2011/08/honduras-is-great-country.html

Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Honduras is a Great Country! I want to tell you about Honduras. Honduras has good weather. And the weather is really chilly in the mornings and it is the perfect temperature in the middle of the afternoon. Let me tell you about the lemons my dad picked! They are pointy on the part you pick, and if you touch it the thorns might go through your hand. The lemon is really big! And they are a little bit yellow and a little bit green. It reminds of a big orange! That is really big!

Olivia Alice: My school story

http://www.olivialice.blogspot.com/2011/08/my-school-story.html

Saturday, August 27, 2011. My first day of school was great. I had the best teacher I think. We have books in our classroom and desks. My desk I love! I have a Honduran tutor. Her name is Melissa. I really like her becuase I think she is the funest Spanish teacher ever. I love her so much, I think she is great. I have learned a lot of new Spanish words. It is hard to say all of them, especially without her asking me them. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Honduras is a Great Country!

Take Root: Spotlight on Francisco

http://takerootproject.blogspot.com/2012/04/spotlight-on-francisco.html

Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Prior to this trip I met one of the coffee farmers from this area at a “Ten Seeds” training session near Siguatepeque. I was struck at that time by his personality; namely at his desire for advancement. This small plot farmer from a very remote part of the globe was carrying a cell phone in which he had a service that updated him daily on coffee trading prices. Plastic shelf used for sizing coffee beans. His wife served us drinks and explained their large adobe oven. While some ...

These are lemons from a tree right near our apartment! They are huger and yummier than they look! This is precious Ivis. I love this lady! I do not know anyone with a bigger love for Jesus, a bigger heart to serve, and who is fuller of JOY than this woman! Comunidad Educativa Evangelica. the outside of our school! Anyways, I th...

http://takerootproject.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 17, 2011. I really thought the idea of culture shock was great but that it wouldn't apply to me. I must have had a really. Idealistic idea of missionary life. To me it is something you don't know you are in while you are in it, and it is. Hard to explain exactly what happens during it. Not to say I am over the "hump", but I do admit that the flight. Mode sounds pretty accurate considering I have tried to quit my job twice in the last two weeks. but it didn't. Travis and many guys at the s...

Take Root: Copán Ruinas, Honduras

http://takerootproject.blogspot.com/2012/04/copan-ruinas-honduras.html

Sunday, April 8, 2012. Copán Ruinas, Honduras. Last Friday our visas reached the 90 day mark. Every 90 days it is required that you leave the country you are not a resident of for 2-3 days before returning, earning another 90 days. In some ways this is great! Of our stay in Honduras. Without too much detail, I will just say that when they say 90 days, they mean 90 days. not 9 1. You can see the way this tree is pushing up this pyramid. I loved the way the root made a trail right through the concrete.

Currently in academia there is much discussion about what it means to help people in underdeveloped areas. Many questions are constantly asked and debated over. What does true help look like? How does it work over time? Do the things we give to really make a difference? Do the things we do to help really hurt in the long run? Do our actions entrap or enslave or exploit?

Take Root: Perspectives Adjusted

http://takerootproject.blogspot.com/2012/06/perspectives-adjusted.html

Saturday, June 9, 2012. We cannot believe our year commitment is almost up! Isn't it crazy to look back at days that seemed to be uphill and difficult and long, to see that they passed by so quickly? Here are a few of our perspectives that have been 'adjusted':. We thought it would be easy to find a 'project' and tackle it head on, throwing our whole selves into it. We would feel like we were serving Christ in every moment because that is our intention. If you are reading this and you support a missionar...
