About me | Beca Beeby
http://becabeeby.com/about-me
From a very young age I was drawn towards forged metalwork, perhaps attracted by the form & feeling reminiscent of the fairytale illustrations I so loved, as if the sweeping curves, tendrils, the magic, had been made solid, albeit in cold iron. When I at last got my chance to forge steel, copper and brass; to work directly with the metal, I discovered a real affinity with it & knew, aged 16, that this was ‘it’, this was my material. Hives series, 2014 | Beca Beeby
http://becabeeby.com/project/hives-series-2014
Hives series, 2014. This series of work has come from my continuing obsession with certain patterns/structures found in nature. The ‘Hives’ form a series of 3 blocks, or frames, each containing a form within it. The 3 frames can be set up in whichever way the viewer wants. I want people to play with them, to reassemble the blocks to the viewers own liking. I want people to peer through the spaces between, each readjustment and angle changing the form the viewer sees.
