Blatska crkva Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije sagrađena je oko 1700. A župnik je bio don Vid Kovačević. Koji je umro 1719. i grob mu se nalazi u crkvi. Kapelica Gospe od Zdravlja sagrađena je oko 1814. Na području stvaralaštva i kulture poznati su: dr. Srećko Perišić (1871.-1941.).

Naziv Blato se prvi put pojavljuje u Poljičkom statutu 1486. kada se govori o granici Poljičke republike . ispod sela Ugljani, niz Cetinu, ali posrid rike u Blatu od Radobilje niz riku na Kreševo. Prvo ime koje se spominje 1611. je don Juraj Perišić. Župnik u Radobilji, zatim blatski težaci Toma Babajić, Toma Ratković i Jure Strižić 1643. godine. U Drugom svjetskom ratu poginulo je 35 Blaćana.

Ne zna se gdje je bila smještena, a nakon Prvog svjetskog rata u kući Mate Perišića na Mostu. 1966. Je sagrađena nova zgrada u kojoj je i danas. Sedamdesetih godina u školi je bilo 8 razreda sa po 25 učenika, a početkom devedesetih samo tri razreda sa ukupno 15 učenika. Najpoznatiji blatski sportaš je Dujam Smoljanović. Koji je bio 1958. U veslanju je poznat i Tomislav Smoljanović.
