I develop algorithms and programs for scientific visualization. For final rendering I like to use world class renderers such as Luxology Modo or Maxwell Render. Mostly, the image geomtries are made from gazillions of little squares and/or triangles. I've created data structures to help manipulate the meshes to do interesting things, like doing contour plots, or creating nice mesh lines for illustration purposes.

These are a few of the pictures I took at Yellowstone during late summer 2009. I am definitely not an expert photographer, but I had fun walking around with my tripod and taking pictures of every single hot spring and bubbling mud hole that I could find.

CS6620: Ray Tracing for Graphics. In the fall of 2014 I took CS6620 - Ray Tracing for Graphics. At the University of Utah. These pages show the results of each homework assignment along with my work for the Utah Teapot Rendering Contest. I have continued to improve my rendering program, and my new images are also shown here. OBJ files of my models can be downloaded at the end of this page. This page shows some of my graphics work. All of the images displayed were rendered (ray-traced) with either Modo (by The Foundry) or Maxwell Render. C programs were written to create/process the meshes for the geometry, and scripts for importing the scenes into Modo. A discussion of how I first created some of the images can be found on the Modo forum. My favorite graphics software is shown to the right. My favorite area of computer graphics is advanced rendering, followed closely by mesh algorithms.
