I've said it. 2 turkey thighs, about 2 – 2.5 lb. total. 3 slices of nice bacon (uncured, no nitrates, maybe applewood smoked or something). 2 shallots, sliced. 2 apples, sliced and cored. How to Tell if its Saturday Morning. I grew up in an Italian-American home and there was rarely a Saturday morning that I didn’t awaken to the aroma of onions and garlic being fried. Was not a dirty word in olive oil. I would lie in bed and wait for the inevitable sizzle and hiss as my mother poured the tomatoes into the hot oil. 2 cans Italian imported peeled plum tomatoes (I prefer San Marzano brand). 2 cans Italian imported crushed plum tomatoes, same brand you chose for peeled. 2 tbsp dried oregano.
